DEAF OVERCOMING VIOLENCE THROUGH EMPOWERMENT (DOVE) IS A NON-PROFIT 501(C)3 ORGANIZATION DEDICATED TO SERVING VICTIMS AND SURVIVORS OF DOMESTIC VIOLENCE AND SEXUAL ASSAULT IN THE COLORADO DEAF COMMUNITY. THE COLORADO DEAF COMMUNITY IS A DIVERSE COMMUNITY THAT INCLUDES THOSE WHO IDENTIFY AS DEAF, DEAFBLIND, DEAFDISABLED, HARD OF HEARING, AND CODAS (CHILDREN OF DEAF ADULTS). ALL OF DOVE'S DIRECT ADVOCACY SERVICES ARE FREE REGARDLESS OF AGE, RACE, GENDER IDENTITY, SEXUAL ORIENTATION, RELIGIOUS AFFILIATION, AND INCOME LEVEL. WE ALSO PROVIDE COMMUNITY EDUCATION, CULTURAL AWARENESS TRAINING, TECHNICAL ASSISTANCE, AND YOUTH ADVOCACY AND PREVENTION.

DOVE 2023 KEY ACCOMPLISHMENTS: - PROVIDED INDIVIDUAL ADVOCACY AND SUPPORT SERVICES TO OVER 80 DEAF, DEAFBLIND, DEAFDISABLED, AND HARD OF HEARING (DDBDDHH) VICTIMS/SURVIVORS OF ABUSE - HAVE STAFF MEMBER WHO LIVES IN COLORADO SPRINGS TO PROVIDE DIRECT ADVOCACY SERVICES IN THE AREA - CREATED AND RELEASED ELEVEN EDUCATIONAL VIDEOS IN AMERICAN SIGN LANGUAGE (ASL) THAT ARE CAPTIONED/TRANSCRIBED IN ENGLISH - RECRUITED AND SCREENED 10 NEW VOLUNTEERS TO SUPPORT DOVE WITH COMMUNITY EVENTS AND BEHIND THE SCENES RESPONSIBILITIES FOR THE ORGANIZATION - PROVIDED 10 EDUCATIONAL TRAININGS AND SHARED CONTENT FOR 72 INDIVIDUALS WITHIN COMMUNITY PARTNER ORGANIZATIONS. - HOSTED 22 SUPPORT GROUPS FOR 105 OF OUR COMMUNITY OF VICTIMS AND SURVIVORS INCLUDING PARENTING GROUPS FOR THOSE WHO ARE PARENTS - RECEIVED 1,000 PER MONTH FOR 12 MONTHS FROM KONG THROUGH THE DENVER FOUNDATION - THROUGH THE SUPPORT OF THE DOMESTIC VIOLENCE PROGRAM FLEX FUND ASSISTANCE, DOVE WAS ABLE TO CONTRIBUTE MORE THAN 66K TO DIRECTLY SUPPORTING CLIENTS WITH EMERGENCY NEEDS SUCH AS EMERGENCY LODGING, RENTAL ASSISTANCE, FOOD ASSISTANCE, RELOCATION, UTILITIES ASSISTANCE, LEGAL COSTS, AND MUCH MORE.
