CITY IMPACT ACCELERATOR: USING THE TOOLS OF APPRECIATIVE INQUIRY AND RESULTS-BASED CONVERSATIONS, GOODCITIES IS PROVIDING LEADERSHIP DEVELOPMENT FOR LEADERS ENGAGING IN CROSS-SECTOR COLLABORATIONS TO MOVE THE NEEDLE ON CRITICAL SOCIAL ISSUES. THE CITY IMPACT ACCELERATOR ENGAGES TEAMS OF LEADERS FROM CITIES IN THREE ONE-AND-A-HALF DAY SESSIONS OVER EIGHT MONTHS AND OFFERS COMMUNITY COACHING TO HELP LEADERS ACHIEVE THEIR STRATEGIES. IN 2022 GOODCITIES PROVIDED THE CITY IMPACT ACCELERATOR FOR SIX LEADERSHIP TEAMS FROM ORLANDO, LAKE WORTH, LEESBURG, TALLAHASSEE, MELBOURNE AND WINTER HAVEN CONVENED BY THE SALVATION ARMY IN FLORIDA. THE WORK OF THE ORLANDO TEAM RESULTED IN AN INVESTMENT OF $70,000,000.00 TO BUILD TWO NEW AFFORDABLE HOUSING COMMUNITIES WITH WRAP AROUND SERVICES AVAILABLE ON SITE. TEAMS FROM OTHER CITIES IMPLEMENTED NEW PLANS FOR SOLVING STUBBORN ISSUES RELATED TO POVERTY SUCH AS HOMELESSNESS, LITERACY, AND WORKFORCE DEVELOPMENT.
CITY COACH: GOODCITIES' COMMUNITY COACHING IS A VITAL PART OF OUR LEADERSHIP DEVELOPMENT WORK AS LEADERS IMPLEMENT NEW PLANS TO IMPACT COMMUNITIES WITH PRACTICAL SOLUTIONS. IN 2022, GLENN BARTH AND REGGIE MCNEAL PROVIDED LEADERSHIP COACHING WITH LEADERS OF THE SALVATION ARMY IN THE SIX FLORIDA CITIES CITED ABOVE SOLVING ISSUES RELATED TO AT-RISK YOUTH, HOUSING THE HOMELESS, PROVIDING TEMPORARY SHELTER, AND ADDRESSING CHILDREN'S LITERACY ISSUES. IN ADDITION, LEADERS OF TWO NONPROFITS IN MINNEAPOLIS WERE MENTORED IN THEIR LEADERSHIP OF VERUS COMMUNITIES, A MINISTRY TO HELP MEN DURING PRISON RE-ENTRY AND ADDICTION RECOVERY; AND OF TIMBER BAY HELPING AT-RISK YOUTH MATURE INTO PRODUCTIVE ADULTS.
