TO EDUCATE YOUTH THROUGH WINTER GUARD COMPETITIONS AND PROVIDE ENTERTAINMENT FOR SPECTATORS.

EACH YEAR FROM JANUARY TO APRIL THERE ARE WEEKLY CONTESTS LEADING UP TO THE STATE CHAMPIONSHIP COMPETITION. THESE CONTESTS ARE HELD IN A HIGH SCHOOL GYM AND ARE HOSTED BY A MARCHING UNIT. RMCGA IS RESPONSIBLE FOR PROVIDING THE JUDGES SUPPORT STAFF AND SOUND SYSTEM WHILE THE HOST UNIT OFFERS THE AWARDS AND PAYS A SMALL FEE TO RMCGA.


A REGIONAL COMPETITION IS ORGANIZED IN WHICH ALL UNITS FROM EVERY STATE CAN PARTICIPATE. THE UNITS ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR TRAVEL EXPENSES WHILE RMCGA ARRANGES JUDGES STAFF AND A GYM TO HOLD THE EVENT.


ORGANIZE A STATE COMPETITION THAT INVOLVES MULTIPLE COLOR GUARDS FROM DENVER COLORADO SPRINGS GRAND JUNCTION AND NEIGHBORING AREAS. THE COMPETING TEAMS WILL BE CATEGORIZED ACCORDING TO THEIR EXPERIENCE LEVELS AND WILL STRIVE FOR THE TITLE OF STATE CHAMPION IN THEIR RESPECTIVE CLASSES. MANY OF THE UNITS WILL PROCEED TO COMPETE AT THE NATIONAL COMPETITION HELD IN DAYTON OHIO WITH AGE GROUPS RANGING FROM 3 TO 23. AWARDS WILL BE PRESENTED TO THE WINNERS OF EACH CLASS.
