Part 3
GRITS HAS, THROUGH PHONE CONFERENCES, ZOOM, AND BLOGS, ASSISTED A NUMBER OF UNDERPRIVILEGED PEOPLE TO CHANGE THEIR EATING HABITS, IMPROVE THEIR HEALTH, AND LEARN ABOUT FOODS THAT CULTURALLY ARE BEST FOR THEM. WHILE MANY OF THE PEOPLE WHO HAVE BEEN PARTICIPATING IN THE PROGRAM ARE TANF RECIPIENTS, THERE ARE ALSO A NUMBER OF THEM WHO HAVE LIMITED FUNDS TO USE FOR FOOD. FOR THESE PEOPLE, THEY WERE PROVIDED A COOKBOOK WHICH PROVIDED THEM WITH RECIPES THAT CAN BE USED WITH CANNED VEGGIES AND MEATS AND ALSO USING LOW COST FOOD ITEMS. ABOUT THIRTY SEVEN PERCENT OF OUR PARTICIPANTS HAVE SEEN AN IMPROVEMENT IN THEIR HEALTH AND EVEN EXPERIENCED SOME WEIGHT LOSS.
