SUSTAINABLE COMMUNITIES INITIATIVE: RECRUITED AND TRAINED 150 SMALLHOLDER WOMEN COFFEE FARMERS FROM VARIOUS REGIONS OF COSTA RICA ON KEY TOPICS SUCH AS GENDER IN COFFEE, CLIMATE CHANGE ADAPTATION, FOOD SECURITY AND BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT; CONNECT THE PRODUCERS WITH LOCAL BUSINESS MENTORS THAT PROVIDE SUPPORT FOR THE FARMERS TO DEVELOP THEIR OWN BUSINESS PROJECTS; OFFER MICRO-GRANTS TO PRODUCERS THAT SUBMIT SUCCESSFUL PROPOSALS TO IMPLEMENT BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT PROJECTS.

MARKET READINESS INITIATIVE: RECRUIT AND CONNECT GLOBAL SPECIALTY COFFEE BUYERS WITH SMALLHOLDER WOMEN COFFEE FARMERS IN COSTA RICA AND MEXICO TO HELP THEM BREAK INTO INTERNATIONAL MARKETS AND ACHIEVE THRIVING PRICES FOR THEIR COFFEE. IN 2022, SUPPORTED 50 WOMEN AND RESULTED IN THE REVENUE GENERATION OF $202,000 FOR PRODUCERS.


GENDER & CLIMATE INITIATIVE: 244 SMALLHOLDER WOMEN COFFEE PRODUCERS CONTINUED TO RECEIVE TRAINING ON CLIMATE SMART AGRICULTURE; THROUGH THEIR PARTICIPATION, 585 PEOPLE WERE DIRECTLY IMPACTED AND 1,098 INDIRECTLY IMPACTED, IN 7 FARMING COMMUNITIES OF COSTA RICA.
