Part 3
AT SKYTREE STUDIOS OUR MISSION IS TO CULTIVATE ARTISTS THAT IMPACT THEIR CULTURE BY THE MUSIC THEY CREATE, AND THE LIVES THAT THEY LIVE. IN 2020 THE WORLD CHANGED, AND WE HAD TO CHANGE WITH IT. WE HAD BEEN WORKING WITH DOZENS OF ARTISTS AND RUNNING SEVERAL PROGRAMS LEADING UP TO 2020. WE WERE LOOKING FORWARD TOWARD A YEAR OF LIVE EVENTS, COMMUNITY COLLABORATION, AND MORE IN-DEPTH ARTIST DEVELOPMENT. WITH COVID 19 WE LEARNED PRETTY QUICK THAT MUCH OF WHAT WE HAD PLANNED WAS NOT GOING TO BE POSSIBLE, SO WE BEGAN TO ADJUST. WHILE BUSINESSES WERE SHUT DOWN I (STEVEN DAMERVILLE, EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR OF SKYTREE STUDIOS) RELOCATED SOME OF OUR PRODUCTION GEAR AND SET IT UP AT OUR HOUSE. WE ATTEMPTED TO STAY CONNECTED WITH SOME OF OUR ARTISTS OVER PHONE CALLS AND ZOOM MEETINGS. THE AMOUNT OF PEOPLE WE WERE WORKING WITH AND THINGS WE WERE DOING DECREASED BY QUITE A BIT ALTHOUGH THIS PROVED TO BE A VERY VALUABLE TIME. WE BEGAN CONNECTING MORE CLOSELY WITH 6-7 OF THE ARTIST/BANDS WE WERE WORKING WITH. WE ALSO REMODELED PART OF OUR STUDIO SPACE. AFTER A FEW MONTHS OF NOT BEING ABLE TO MEET WITH ANY ONE IN PERSON WE BEGAN DOING OUR MISFIT TRIBE COLLABORATION AGAIN ON FRIDAYS. WE ALSO ESTABLISHED A WEEKLY SUPPORT GROUP OF MEN CONNECTED TO OUR ORGANIZATION FOR THE PURPOSE OF PROCESSING THROUGH LIFE AND BEING A SUPPORT TO EACH OTHER. AFTER REESTABLISHING IN PERSON OPERATIONS, WE BEGAN HAVING OUR ONE ON ONE TRAINING SESSIONS FOR SEVERAL PEOPLE INTERESTED. WE PARTNERED WITH COMMUNITY MINDED TELEVISION ON TWO OCCASIONS TO PRODUCE A LIVE STREAMED CONCERT EVENT CALLED VIBN LIVE. THIS WAS AN EVENT WHERE A LOCAL BAND WAS INVITED TO PLAY A 45-MINUTE SET AT COMMUNITY MINDED TELEVISIONS VIDEO STUDIO. WE REESTABLISHED OUR INTERN PROGRAM AND TOOK ON AN INTERN WHO FULFILLED A 3-MONTH INTERNSHIP. 2020 WAS A YEAR OF TRANSITION AND WE TRIED TO TAKE ADVANTAGE OF WHAT IT GAVE US. THE OUTCOME OF WHICH SEEMS TO HAVE BEEN DEEPER CONNECTIONS AND MORE IN-DEPTH WORK WITH FEWER PEOPLE.
