BBB NATIONAL PROGRAMS PROMOTES TRUTH-IN-ADVERTISING THROUGH ITS NATIONAL ADVERTISING DIVISION AND NATIONAL ADVERTISING REVIEW BOARD; PROVIDES A WATCHDOG ROLE ON THE DIRECT SELLING INDUSTRY VIA ITS DIRECT SELLING SELF-REGULATORY COUNCIL; HELPS COMPANIES ADHERE TO APPLICABLE PRIVACY STANDARDS THROUGH ITS VARIOUS PRIVACY INITIATIVES; CREATES GUIDELINES FOR CHILDREN'S ADVERTISING AND PRIVACY IN ITS CHILDREN'S ADVERTISING REVIEW UNIT; MONITORS DIGITAL ADVERTISING, INCLUDING POLITICAL ADS, THROUGH ITS DIGITAL ADVERTISING ACCOUNTABILITY PROGRAM; AND SETS STANDARDS FOR COMPANIES THAT ADVERTISE FOOD AND BEVERAGES TO CHILDREN VIA ITS CHILDREN'S FOOD AND BEVERAGE ADVERTISING INITIATIVE, DOING ALL OF THIS WORK IN THE SPIRIT OF ENCOURAGING VOLUNTARY SELF-REGULATION.
