WILDFLOWER NEW YORK CHARTER SCHOOL (WNYCS), LOCATED IN THE SOUTH BRONX, NEW YORK, IS A NONPROFIT EDUCATION CORPORATION CHARTERED BY THE BOARD OF TRUSTEES OF THE STATE UNIVERSITY OF NEW YORK. THE SCHOOL WAS FOUNDED IN 2019 AND ENROLLED STUDENTS FOR THE FIRST TIME IN THE FALL OF 2021.WNYCS IS CURRENTLY MADE UP OF TWO SMALL SCHOOLS, GLORIA ALSTON CHILDRENS LEARNING CENTER AND THE ROSE SCHOOL, WHICH ARE OPEN FOR ENROLLMENT AND CAN ONLY BE ENTERED THROUGH A RANDOM LOTTERY. THE GLORIA ALSTON CHILDRENS LEARNING CENTER, A PRIMARY SCHOOL, SERVES PRE-K AND KINDERGARTEN STUDENTS. THE ROSE SCHOOL, A LOWER ELEMENTARY SCHOOL, STARTED WITH GRADE 1 IN 2020-21, EXPANDED TO GRADES 1-2 IN 2021-22, AND WILL SERVE GRADES 1-3 STARTING IN THE 2022-23 SCHOOL YEAR. THE SCHOOL PLANS TO OPEN ADDITIONAL SMALL SCHOOLS IN THE COMING YEARS, TO ULTIMATELY SERVE APPROXIMATELY 120 STUDENTS FROM PREK THROUGH GRADE 5, INCLUDING A SECOND PRIMARY SCHOOL TO OPEN IN THE FALL OF 2022.IN LINE WITH MONTESSORI PRACTICES, WNYCS HAS CAREFULLY PREPARED ENVIRONMENTS THAT OFFER CHILDREN BEAUTIFUL, HIGHLY CURATED LEARNING OPPORTUNITIES ACROSS MULTIPLE DOMAINS. EACH SMALL SCHOOL, WHICH INCLUDES CHILDREN SPANNING TWO TO THREE AGES, IS CHILD-CENTERED, WELCOMING, AND CULTURALLY RELEVANT.
