Part 3
THE DEBORAH PROJECT'S MISSION AND OVERALL OBJECTIVE IS TO PROVIDE PRO BONO LEGAL SERVICES TO PEOPLE AND INSTITUTIONS VICTIMIZED BY ANTI-SEMITISM AND/OR ANTI-ZIONISM IN U.S. EDUCATIONAL INSTITUTIONS. DURING 2021, THE DEBORAH PROJECT'S PERSONNEL SERVED AS LEAD COUNSEL IN ONE PENDING CASE BRONNER V. AMERICAN STUDIES ASSOCIATION, WHICH WAS THEN PENDING IN THE COURT OF APPEALS FOR THE DISTRICT OF COLUMBIA. WE BRIEFED AND THEN ARGUED THIS APPEAL, WHICH ADDRESSED THE QUESTION WHETHER THE CASE, IN WHICH THE DEBORAH PROJECT REPRESENTS THE FOUR PLAINTIFFS, CAN PROCEED. WE ADVISED OUR CLIENTS ABOUT THE STATUS OF THE APPEAL. IN SEPTEMBER OF 2021 WE LEARNED THAT WE HAD PREVAILED ON THIS APPEAL, AND THAT THE CASE WILL PROCEED. THE DEBORAH PROJECT IS INVESTIGATING THE FILING OF A SECOND CASE IN CALIFORNIA.
