Describe the Organization's Program Activity:
Part 3 - Line 4a
SCOTLAND COUNTY HOSPITAL FOUNDATION CONTINUED A FUNDRAISER FROM FISCAL YEAR 2020. THIS FUNDRAISER WAS THE DEVELOPMENT AND SALES OF A 50TH ANNIVERSARY COOKBOOK TO COMMEMORATE THE 50TH YEAR OF SCOTLAND COUNTY HOSPITAL. THE PROCEEDS FROM THE SALE OF THE COOKBOOK WILL GO TOWARDS DEVELOPING AND PRESERVING THE HEALTHCARE SERVICE LINES THAT SCOTLAND COUNTY HOSPITAL OFFERS TO ITS RESIDENTS. RURAL HEALTHCARE IS A CONSTANT BATTLE BETWEEN THE HEALTHCARE NEEDS IN THE COMMUNITY AND THE RESOURCES THE HEALTHCARE ORGANIZATION HAS TO SUPPORT THOSE NEEDS. THIS FUNDRAISER WILL PROVIDE AN OPPORTUNITY TO EITHER DEVELOP A NEEDED SERVICE FOR THE COMMUNITY OR TO MAINTAIN SERVICES THAT THE HOSPITAL PROVIDES.
THE SECOND FUNDING OPPORTUNITY AROSE DUE TO THE COVID 19 PANDEMIC. THE PANDEMIC MADE ITS WAY TO NORTHEAST MISSOURI AND THE HOSPITAL STARTED TO EXPERIENCE DIFFICULTIES RELATED TO THE PANDEMIC. THE GREATEST NEED FUND WAS DEVELOPED TO PROVIDE AN OUTLET WHEREBY DONATIONS COULD BE MADE TO HELP THE COMMUNITY'S HEALTHCARE PROVIDER SURVIVE DURING THE PANDEMIC. THE FUNDS RECEIVED FROM THE GREATEST NEED FUND WILL BE UTILIZED FOR THE PURCHASE OF PERSONAL PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENT FOR STAFF ON THE FRONT LINES, MORALE IMPROVING PURCHASES AS COVID HAS STARTED TO ERODE THE MORALE OF EVEN THE MOST SEASONED HEALTHCARE WORKER, AND FOR OTHER SUPPLIES THAT MAY GO UNPURCHASED DUE TO THE COMPETITION FOR RESOURCES FROM MORE PRESSING NEEDS.
