Part 3 - Line 4a
RECENT STUDIES SUGGEST THAT EXERCISE IS A PHYSIOLOGICAL TOOL THAT GUIDES BRAIN HEALTH, PROTECTION, REPAIR AND ADAPTATION AFTER NEURODEGENERATION OCCURS. EXERCISE TRIGGERS THE PLASTICITY, THUS POTENTIALLY SLOWING THE PROGRESSION OF PARKINSON'S DISEASE. THE CERTIFIED AND EXPERIENCED COACHING STAFF UTILIZES ROCK STEADY BOXING, PWR!MOVES, THEATRICAL EXPRESSION, DANCE AND RHYTHM THERAPY, YOGA, AND MAT PILATES FOR PEOPLE WITH PD AND OTHER MOVEMENT DISORDERS AS A COMPLEMENTARY THERAPY TO TRADITIONAL MEDICINE. PWR!MOVES (PARKINSON WELLNESS RECOVERY), A PARKINSON'S DISEASE-SPECIFIC TRAINING PROGRAM MAINTAINS OR RESTORES DETERIORATION AND INTERFERENCE WITH BIG MOVEMENTS THROUGH SPORTS, FITNESS AND MORE TRADITIONAL GYM ACTIVITIES. PARKINSON'S:THE ART OF EXPRESSION (PARTETM) CLASSES TARGET THE MOTOR AND NON-MOTOR SYMPTOMS OF PARKINSON'S DISEASE, ACCESSES THE CREATIVE CENTERS OF THE BRAIN, REWIRES THE NEUROPATHWAYS, DECREASES ANXIETY, ENCOURAGES SOCIALIZATION, IMPROVES MOOD & SELF-CONFIDENCE AND PROMOTES GREATER MOBILITY & BODY CONTROL. THE PEWC PROVIDES SERVICES TO ANYONE WHO HAD PARKINSON'S DISEASE NO MATTER THEIR ABILITY TO PAY FOR. IN 2021 OUR COMMUNITY IMPACT HAS INCREASED. COMING OUT OF COVID QUARANTINE PROTOCOLS AND MANAGING SWELLS IN INFECTION RATES, WE HAD THE DIFFICULT TASK OF NAVIGATING HOW, WHEN, AND WHERE TO OFFER IN PERSON GROUP EXERCISES CLASSES, WHILE MAINTAINING A VIRTUAL PLATFORM FOR THE MANY INDIVIDUALS WHO WISHED TO PARTICIPATE FROM HOME. IN 2021, OUR PROUDEST ACCOMPLISHMENTS ARE AS FOLLOWS. WE OFFERED 7 CLASS FORMATS WITH OVER 20 CLASSES IN PERSON, AND OVER 15 CLASSES ONLINE THROUGH ZOOM. WE SERVED OUR MEMBERSHIP BASE OF OVER 110 INDIVIDUALS WITH SAFE AND EFFECTIVE EXERCISE CLASSES AND ADD OVER 60 INDIVIDUALS TO THE PROGRAM. WE SUBSIDIZE OVER $58,000 IN MEMBERSHIPS AND PARTICIPATION FEES. WE ALSO LAUNCH A NEW ROCK STEADY BOXING PROGRAM. WE HOSTED 6 IN PERSON/VIRTUAL SOCIAL EVENTS, AND 5 EDUCATIONAL RESOURCE MEETINGS, DESPITE THE CONTINUED SOCIAL DISTANCING PROTOCOLS. OUR COACHES WERE ABLE TO RECEIVE CONTINUING EDUCATION FOR 2 NEW PARKISNON'S SPECIFIC PROGRAM CERTIFICATIONS, URBAN POLING AND BALANCE MATTERS. WE PROVIDE CERTIFICATION AND EDUCATION TO 27 INDIVIDUALS FROM 5 STATES IN THE PARKINSON'S AND THE ART OF EXPRESSION PROGRAM.

IT IS A UNIQUE FITNESS AND THERAPY-BASED PROGRAM CREATED SPECIFICALLY FOR CAREGIVERS OF PEOPLE LIVING WITH PARKINSON'S DISEASE AND PARKINSON'S PLUS.
