Describe the Organization's Mission:
Part 3 - Line 1
COLLIDER FOUNDATION BELIEVES THAT THERE SHOULD BE ZERO BARRIERS TO ENTREPRENEURSHIP IN ROCHESTER. COLLIDER FOUNDATION SUPPORTS ENTREPRENEURS WITH NAVIGATION, EDUCATION, EVENTS, AND STORYTELLING TO HELP FOSTER AN INCLUSIVE, DIVERSE, AND EQUITABLE ENTREPRENEURIAL ECOSYSTEM.
Describe the Organization's Program Activity:
Part 3 - Line 4a
COLLIDER FOUNDATION PROVIDED LOW-COST OFFICE SPACE TO NEW AND GROWING BUSINESSES IN THE ROCHESTER AREA THROUGH ITS COLLIDER COWORKING SPACE. THIS SPACE WORKS TO ACTIVATE, CONNECT, AND EMPOWER NEW AND EMERGING ENTREPRENEURS AND BUSINESSES BY CONNECTING THEM TO RESOURCE PROVIDERS AND MENTORS WHO ARE OFTEN CO-LOCATED IN THE SAME SPACE. A PHYSICAL LOCATION TO CONDUCT BUSINESS IS OFTEN A SIGNIFICANT BARRIER FACED BY EMERGING SMALL BUSINESSES. THE GOAL OF THE COWORKING SPACE IS TO FOSTER THE GROWTH OF NEW COMPANIES IN THE ROCHESTER AREA THAT WILL GET THEIR START IN COLLIDER COWORKING AND THEN MOVE ON TO THEIR OWN BRICK-AND-MORTAR LOCATION IN THE NEXT FEW YEARS.
COLLIDER FOUNDATIONS ECOSYSTEM NAVIGATION SERVICES ARE A CONFIDENTIAL, FREE RESOURCE IN THE COMMUNITY TO LISTEN TO THE NEEDS OF ENTREPRENEURS IN THE ROCHESTER ECOSYSTEM AND CONNECT THEM TO THE RIGHT RESOURCES THEY NEED AT THE RIGHT TIME TO ACCELERATE THEIR BUSINESS. THESE SERVICES ARE FOR ALL ENTREPRENEURS IN ROCHESTER. PORTIONS OF THIS WORK WERE FUNDED THROUGH AN INCLUSION OPEN GRANT FROM THE EWING MARION KAUFFMAN FOUNDATION, WITH A SPECIFIC FOCUS ON LATINX, BLACK, AND FEMALE BUSINESS OWNERS. COLLIDER FOUNDATION SERVED 165 ENTREPRENEURS THROUGH THIS WORK. 50% OF THESE ENTREPRENEURS WERE BIPOC AND 35% WERE WOMEN.
COLLIDER BELIEVES THAT A KEY TO A STRONG ENTREPRENEURIAL ECOSYSTEM IS EDUCATIONAL EVENTS THAT CONTINUOUSLY BRING US TOGETHER TO COLLIDE AND SPARK NEW IDEAS AND CONNECTIONS. THIS YEAR, WE HOSTED SEVERAL EVENTS TO BRING TOGETHER CURRENT AND FUTURE ENTREPRENEURS, ECOSYSTEM SUPPORTERS, AND ANYONE ELSE WHO WANTS TO LEARN MORE ABOUT OUR ENTREPRENEURIAL ECOSYSTEM. OUR MEMBER-DRIVEN EDUCATIONAL MEETUP GROUP, CALLED 4TH AND TOAST, GATHERED ONCE PER WEEK TO IMPROVE BUSINESS COMMUNICATION SKILLS IN A FUN, SUPPORTIVE ENVIRONMENT. THIS GROUP HOSTED 35 MEETUPS IN 2021. COLLIDER FOUNDATIONS PEER GROUPS BRING TOGETHER BUSINESS FOUNDERS TO HELP ASSIST AND GUIDE EACH OTHER ON THEIR ENTREPRENEURIAL JOURNEYS. COLLIDER CURRENTLY HOSTS THREE FOUNDER PEER GROUPS FOR MED/BIO, FOOD, AND FEMALE ENTREPRENEURS. OUR FEMALE FOUNDERS GROUP HAS ASSISTED 16 DIFFERENT BUSINESSES THROUGH 16 HOURS OF MEETUPS THIS YEAR.
