COACH TN HAS INCREASED ACCESS TO EDUCATION ABOUT OPIOID PRESCRIBING GUIDELINES AMONG HEALTH CARE PROFESSIONAL IN TENNESSEE THROUGH COLLABORATION WITH STATE AGENCIES, HEALTH PROFESSIONAL ASSOCIATIONS, CLINICAL HEALTH EDUCATORS, AND HEALTH CARE PROVIDERS. SINCE JULY 2020, 46 HEALTH PROFESSIONALS HAVE RECEIVED 207 CONTINUING EDUCATION CREDITS AT NO COST, FOR COMPLETING COURSEWORK VIA A MOBILE APPLICATION DELIVERING INFORMATION ABOUT THE APPROPRIATE USE OF PRESCRIBING OPIOID MEDICATIONS. ADDITIONALLY, COACH TN HAS PROVIDED TRAINING TO 60 HEALTH PROFESSIONALS, INCLUDING PHARMACISTS, PHYSICIANS, AND HEALTH EDUCATORS, TO SERVE AS ACADEMIC DETAILERS WHO MEET ONE-ON-ONE WITH CLINICIANS. TO DATE, 341 SESSIONS HAVE BEEN HELD TO SHARE OPIOID PRESCRIBING GUIDELINES, STATE REQUIREMENTS AND REGULATIONS, DATA TRENDS, RESOURCES AND ALTERNATIVE THERAPIES TO REDUCE THE MORPHINE MILLIGRAM EQUIVALENTS (MMES) PRESCRIBED FOR CHRONIC PAIN, AND TO SCREEN AND TREAT FOR SUBSTANCE USE DISORDER. COACH TN HAS DEVELOPED AND INITIATED A PILOT PROJECT IN 3 TARGET COUNTIES IN THE UPPER CUMBERLAND TN REGION, TO APPLY EVIDENCE-BASED PRACTICES FOR SCREENING, TREATING AND REFERRING PATIENTS WITH SUBSTANCE USE PROBLEMS TO A NETWORK OF MEDICAL, MENTAL/BEHAVIORAL HEALTH AND SOCIAL SERVICE PROVIDERS AND TO REDUCE STIGMA THROUGH EDUCATION OF CLINICIANS, PATIENTS AND COMMUNITY LEADERS.
