YPAL PROVIDES A WORKABLE ALTERNATIVE TO GANGS AND DRUGS AND HELPS YOUTH IN THE YAKIMA COMMUNITY BECOME BETTER CITIZENS AND STUDENTS THROUGH VARIOUS ACTIVITIES IN A POSITIVE ENVIRONMENT. YPAL STAFF IS A MIX OF LOCAL VOLUNTEERS AND CIVILIAN STAFF TO PROMOTE MUTUAL RESPECT AND UNDERSTANDING AMONG VOLUNTEERS AND YOUTH IN THE YAKIMA COMMUNITY. PARTICIPATION IN PROGRAMS TEACH VALUABLE LIFE SKILLS, SUCH AS LEADERSHIP, TEAMWORK, AND RESPONSIBILITY. YPAL OFFERS PROGRAMS RANGING FROM AN AFTER SCHOOL PROGRAM, BOXING AND WRESTLING TRAINING, YOUTH LEADERSHIP PROGRAM, TUTORING AND ART CLASSES, FIELD TRIPS, AND THE RECENTLY ADDED COMPUTER LAB. DUE TO THE COVID-19 PANDEMIC SERVICES PROVIDED IN 2021 WERE LIMITED.
