THE MISSION IS ACCOMPLISHED THROUGH PROMOTING THE DEVELOPMENT WITHIN THE GREATER MONONGAHELA VALLEY AREA OF HEALTH AND WELFARE SERVICES, FACILITIES AND PROGRAMS WHICH WILL ENHANCE THE GENERAL HEALTH AND WELFARE OF THE COMMUNITY BY INCREASING THE ACCESSIBILITY, CONTINUITY AND QUALITY OF SERVICES PROVIDED TO THE RESIDENTS OF THE COMMUNITY. MONONGAHELA VALLEY HOSPITAL FOUNDATION, INC. PROVIDES VARIOUS ACTIVITIES INCLUDING FUND-RAISING, THE SECURING OF GRANTS AND CONTRACTS, JOINT PLANNING AND MARKETING FOR SUBSIDIARY ENTERPRISES, PUBLIC RELATIONS ACTIVITIES AND THE GENERAL PROMOTION OF HEALTH, WELFARE, EDUCATION AND OTHER CHARITABLE PURPOSES.MONONGAHELA VALLEY HOSPITAL FOUNDATION, INC. PROVIDED NEARLY $1,858,000 OF FUNDING TO MONONGAHELA VALLEY HOSPITAL, INC. FOR CAPITAL AND SUPPLY PURCHASES, PROGRAMS PROVIDING DIRECT PATIENT SUPPORT, THE CAMEOS OF CARING PROGRAM THAT PROMOTES THE NURSING PROFESSION, MEDICAL EDUCATION PROGRAMS, STAFF CERTIFICATIONS, AND THE PURCHASE OF TRAINING SOFTWARE LICENSES FOR NEWLY GRADUATED NURSES.MONONGAHELA VALLEY HOSPITAL FOUNDATION, INC. PROVIDED THREE NEW SCHOLARSHIP AND MADE ADDITIONAL PAYMENTS TO FOUR PREVIOUS AWARDEES UNDER THE SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM FOR NURSES AND CRITICAL CLINICAL HEALTH CARE OCCUPATIONS. STUDENTS MAY QUALIFY FOR THIS SCHOLARSHIP BY HAVING A 3.5 CUMULATIVE GRADE POINT AVERAGE AT THE END OF THE FIRST SEMESTER OF THEIR SENIOR YEAR OF HIGH SCHOOL, HAVE A LETTER OF ACCEPTANCE INTO AN APPROVED POST-SECONDARY PROGRAM, AND COMPLETE AN APPLICATION WITH A 200 WORD ESSAY. A SELECTION COMMITTEE REVIEWS ALL APPLICATIONS AND SUBMITS THEIR RECOMMENDATIONS TO THE CORPORATE STAFF MEMBERS OF THE HOSPITAL FOR FINAL APPROVAL. TO CONTINUE RECEIVING SCHOLARSHIP FUNDS, THE RECIPIENTS MUST MAINTAIN FULL-TIME STUDENT STATUS, A 2.5 OR BETTER GRADE POINT AVERAGE AND SIGN A COMMITMENT TO WORK AT THE HOSPITAL UPON GRADUATION.MONONGAHELA VALLEY HOSPITAL FOUNDATION, INC. ALSO PROVIDES A REGISTERED NURSE SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM FOR DISPLACED WORKERS. IN FISCAL YEAR 2020, NO INDIVIDUAL APPLIED FOR THIS AWARD. POSSIBLE RECIPIENTS MAY QUALIFY FOR THIS SCHOLARSHIP BY BEING UNEMPLOYED, HAVE A LETTER OF ACCEPTANCE INTO AN ACCREDITED SCHOOL OF NURSING, AND BE RECOMMENDED BY THEIR FORMER EMPLOYER AND LOCAL CAREERLINK OFFICE. CORPORATE STAFF MEMBERS REVIEW APPLICATIONS AND INTERVIEW APPLICANTS FOR FINAL APPROVAL. TO CONTINUE RECEIVING SCHOLARSHIP FUNDS, THE RECIPIENTS MUST MAINTAIN FULL-TIME STUDENT STATUS, A 2.5 OR BETTER GRADE POINT AVERAGE AND SIGN A COMMITMENT TO WORK AT THE HOSPITAL UPON GRADUATION.DUE TO THE COVID-19 PANDEMIC, MONONGAHELA VALLEY HOSPITAL FOUNDATION, INC. WAS UNABLE TO HOLD THE THIRTY-SECOND ANNUAL GALA FUND-RAISING EVENT IN PERSON. THE GALA TO COMMEMORATE THE HEALTH CARE SYSTEM'S ACHIEVEMENTS AND TO HONOR THOSE WHOSE EFFORTS AND DEDICATION HAVE ENHANCED THE QUALITY OF HEALTH CARE IN THE MID-MON VALLEY WAS SUCCESSFULLY HELD VIRTUALLY. ALSO DURING FISCAL YEAR 2021 MONONGAHELA VALLEY HOSPITAL FOUNDATION, INC., CONTINUED ITS EFFORTS IN THE DUCOEUR BREAST CANCER WALK, THE GIVING SOCIETY, THE HEARTS THAT CARE, AND THE PATHWAYS PROMOTING PROGRESS IN HEALTH COMMUNITY FUND-RAISING CAMPAIGNS. FUNDS REALIZED THROUGH THESE PROGRAMS OF GIVING WILL BE USED TO ENDOW THE SERVICES PROVIDED BY OUR HEALTH CARE SYSTEM.
