THE ART PRESENTATION, PICTUS PORRECTUS RECONSIDERING THE FULL LENGTH PORTRAIT , JULY 1, 2022 AND OCTOBER 2, 2022, WAS AN ART EXHIBITION PRESENTED AT ISAAC BELL HOUSE C. 1883. THIS WAS ITS FIRST USE AS AN EXHIBITION SPACE. PICTUS PORRECTUS WAS ORGANIZED BY CURATORS DODIE KAZANJIAN AND ALISON M. GINGERAS. 23 ARTWORKS WERE PRESENTED. 22 ARTISTS PARTICIPATED: JOHN CURRIN, JENNA GRIBBON, CHASE HALL, SALLY J. HAN, ANDREW LAMAR HOPKINS, DENNIS KARDON, ELLA KRUGLYANSKAYA, DEANA LAWSON, SOPHIE MATISSE, SAM MCKINNISS, RUBY NERI, ALIZA NISENBAUM, NICOLAS PARTY, CELIA PAUL, ELIZABETH PEYTON, UMAR RACHID, MALICK SIDIB, HENRY TAYLOR, SALMON TOOR, PIOTR UKLANSKI, ALEKSANDRA WALISZEWSKA, ALBERT YORK. THE EXHIBIT WAS FREE TO THE PUBLIC AND OPEN THREE DAYS A WEEK: 1,500+ SAW IT AND MORE THAN 150 ATTENDED A PUBLIC OPENING RECEPTION. THE EXHIBIT WAS COVERED IN THE LOCAL, REGIONAL AND GLOBAL PRESS. THE PRESENTATION INCLUDED ONLY FULL LENGTH PORTRAITS (HEAD TO TOE). AFTER MORE THAN A CENTURY OF FALLING OUT OF FASHION, THE FULL LENGTH PORTRAIT HAS UNDERGONE A RADICAL PARADIGM SHIFT IN RECENT DECADES. CONTEMPORARY ARTISTS HAVE BREATHED NEW LIFE INTO THIS OLD FASHIONED GENRE BY REINVIGORATING IT. THE PROJECT WAS IN COLLABORATION WITH NEWPORT PRESERVATION SOCIETY, NPS, WHO OPERATES BELL HOUSE. DESIGNED BY MCKIM, MEAD & WHITE, THE HOUSE WAS REVOLUTIONARY FOR ITS OPEN PLAN AND FUSION OF DESIGN ELEMENTS FROM A VARIETY OF HISTORICAL AND EXOTIC SOURCES.
