Part 3 - Line 4a
GYNUITY HEALTH PROJECTS HAS BEEN AT THE FOREFRONT OF GLOBAL RESEARCH AND ADVOCACY EFFORTS TO IMPROVE ACCESS TO HIGH-QUALITY, SIMPLE, MEDICAL ABORTION (MA) SERVICES. IN 2023, WE STUDIED A NUMBER OF APPROACHES FOR DE-MEDICALIZED ABORTION AND SELF-CARE APPROACHES THAT PRIORITIZE A PERSON'S AUTONOMY AND REDUCES THE NUMBER OF IN-CLINIC VISITS. WE CONFIRMED THE FEASIBILITY OF TELEMEDICINE MA SERVICES IN MEXICO, UZBEKISTAN, AZERBAIJAN, AND UKRAINE. WE HAVE CONDUCTED PROMISING RESEARCH INTO EXISTING REGISTERED COMPOUNDS THAT MIGHT BE USED IN MA REGIMENS INSTEAD OF MIFEPRISTONE WITH SIMILAR SAFETY AND EFFICACY. AT GYNUITY, WE ALSO PERFORM RESEARCH ON PROMISING MATERNAL HEALTH TECHNOLOGIES AND MODELS OF CARE THAT HAVE THE POWER TO IMPROVE HEALTH OUTCOMES. WE COMPLETED A LARGE BODY OF RESEARCH THAT ASSESSED THE USE OF LOW-DOSE ORAL MISOPROSTOL FOR LABOR INDUCTION IN WOMEN UNDERGOING TREATMENT FOR PREGNANCY-RELATED HYPERTENSIVE DISORDERS AT LARGE GOVERNMENT HOSPITALS IN NAGPUR, INDIA. WE INITIATED WORK WITH PARTNERS IN UGANDA TO CREATE NEW SELF-CARE MONITORING APP FOR DELIVERING MOTHERS AND THEIR BIRTH COMPANIONS TO HELP WITH THEIR MONITORING OF OBSTETRIC COMPLICATIONS. IN 2023, WE PUBLISHED SEVERAL NEW JOURNAL ARTICLES THAT SUMMARIZE THE RESULTS FROM THIS WORK AND WE CONTINUE TO ENGAGE STRATEGICALLY WITH PARTNERS AND LEADING HEALTH AUTHORITIES TO SHARE EVIDENCE FOR UPDATING GUIDELINES AND PRACTICES.
