JUSTICE FOR KURDS,INC. (JFK) IS A NON-PROFIT ORGANIZATION THAT SEEKS TO EDUCATE AND RAISE PUBLIC AWARENESS ABOUT THE KURDISH CAUSE, POLITICS, HISTORY, CULTURE AND SOCIETIES IN AMERICAN AND ABROAD.

JUSTICE FOR KURDS AIMS TO RAISE PUBLIC AWARENESS THROUGH CONFERENCES, EDUCATIONAL INITIATIVES AND PUBLIC EVENTS AND GENERATE AND ADVANCE DIALOGUE WITH CONSTITUENTS, ACADEMIC COMMUNITIES, THOUGHT LEADERS AND THINK THANKS RELATED TO THE KURDS, FOREIGN POLICY AND HUMANITARIAN ACTION. IN 2021, THE ORGANIZATION ORGANIZED AND HOSTED A PRESTIGIOUS CONFERENCE WITH YALE UNIVERSITY ENTITLED THE KURDS IN THE MIDDLE EAST. THE CONFERENCE, HELD AS A FOUR-PART ONLINE SERIES, SPANNED THE MONTH OF APRIL. IT BEGAN WITH A KEYNOTE ADDRESS FROM H.E. PRESIDENT NECHIRVAN BARZANI WHO ADDRESSED THE STUDENT POPULATION OF YALE AND BEYOND AND STRESSED THE IMPORTANCE OF EDUCATIONAL COLLABORATION AND THE NEED FOR THE UNITED STATES TO SUPPORT KURDISTAN. OTHER SPEAKERS INCLUDED EMMA SKY, THOMAS KAPLAN, DENNIS ROSS, GENERAL DAVID PETRAEUS, FORMER MP RORY STEWART, KRG REPRESENTATIVE BAYAN SAMI ABDUL RAHMAN, SINAM MOHAMED, AMBASSADOR ROBERT FORD, KENNETH POLLACK, BERNARD-HENRI LEVY AND JANINE DI GIOVANNI. THE CONFERENCE WAS LIVE STREAMED ON RUDAW MEDIA NETWORK IN KURDISTAN AND BROKE RECORDS FOR VIEWERSHIP. IN OCTOBER 2021, THE ORGANIZATION PARTNERED WITH THE KURDISH CULTURAL CENTER TO PUT ON THE FIFTH EDITION OF THEIR FILM FESTIVAL. THE ORGANIZATION SUPPORTED THIS WORTHY INITIATIVE WHICH FEATURED KURDISH FILMS, MUSIC AND DANCING AND A SPECIAL TALK BY AUTHOR AND COUNCIL ON FOREIGN RELATIONS FELLOW GAYLE LEMMON. AT THE END OF OCTOBER 2021, THE ORGANIZATION HOSTED A PRIVATE DISCUSSION IN WASHINGTON ON INTERNATIONAL RELIGIOUS FREEDOM WITH THE US COMMISSION ON INTERNATIONAL RELIGIOUS FREEDOM TO STRESS THE IMPORTANCE OF THIS MATTER IN THE KURDISTAN REGION AND HIGHLIGHT ITS STRENGTHS IN THIS ARENA. MEDIA AROUND KURDISTAN AND THE FILM WAS ABUNDANT WITH MAJOR TELEVISION FEATURES AND MANY PRESTIGIOUS PRINT PRESS OUTLETS. ALL PROGRAMS WERE ESPECIALLY CONCEIVED TO RAISE AWARENESS, PROVOKE CONVERSATION AND INSTILL AN INTEREST IN KURDISTAN IN THE GENERAL PUBLIC IN THE UNITED STATES.
IN THE ARENA OF EVENTS FOR JUSTICE FOR KURDS, THE ORGANIZATION PROVIDED FREE AND PUBLIC PROGRAMMING IN COLLABORATION WITH MANY OTHER EDUCATIONAL AND CULTURAL INSTITUTIONS. THE ORGANIZATION HOSTED A FILM SCREENING AND CONVERSATION WITH THE FRENCH EMBASSY AND THE ATLANTIC MAGAZINE FEATURING KURDISTAN. THERE WAS A CONVERSATION OPEN TO THE PUBLIC WITH JEFFREY GOLDBERG, EDITOR IN CHIEF OF THE ATLANTIC MONTHLY AND BERNARD-HENRI LEVY ON WHY THE GENERAL PUBLIC SHOULD CARE ABOUT WHAT HAPPENS IN CONFLICT ZONES SUCH AS KURDISTAN. THE ORGANIZATION ORGANIZED A THINK TANK EVENT WITH THE INSTITUTE OF PEACE IN WASHINGTON IN OCTOBER AND DID A PUBLIC SCREENING OF THE FILM, THE WILL TO SEE (WHICH FEATURES KURDISTAN) AT THE AMERICAN CINEMATHEQUE IN LOS ANGELES. A CONVERSATION WAS CONDUCTED FOLLOWING THE SCREENING WITH A UCLA PROFESSOR AND THE GENERAL PUBLIC. IN DECEMBER 2021, THE ORGANIZATION SUPPORTED A COMMUNITY FESTIVAL EVENT FOR THE KURDISH HOLIDAY SEVA ZISTANE. HERE CHILDREN WERE INVITED TO LEARN ABOUT KURDISH TRADITIONS AND LEARN THE BASICS OF THE KURDISH LANGUAGE.
