Describe the Organization's Program Activity:
Part 3 - Line 4a
PEACE GAMES PROGRAM: DSF CONTINUED TO GROW THE PEACE GAMES PROGRAM IN 2023. IN PARTNERSHIP WITH THE ICONS AND USIP, DSF RAN ITS FOURTH PEACE GAME IN JUNE 2023. FOLLOWING THAT EXERCISE, DSF WORKED WITH ITS PARTNERS TO ESTABLISH A ROAD MAP FOR APPROPRIATELY SCALING THE INITIATIVE TO REACH MORE OFFICERS ANNUALLY. DSF SPEARHEADED A PLAN TO REVAMP THE EVALUATION PROCESS DURING AND AFTER EXERCISES, EXPAND THE POOL OF CONTROL TEAM PARTICIPANTS, ESTABLISH A FORMAL COUNTRY TEAM PARTICIPANT RECRUITMENT PROCESS IN CONJUNCTION WITH THE DEPARTMENT OF STATE, AND REFINE THE SCENARIO TO REFLECT THE PRESSING CHALLENGES FACING TODAY'S FOREIGN AFFAIRS PROFESSIONALS, INCLUDING THE STRATEGIC COMPETITION OVER RARE EARTH MINERALS IN AFRICA. AS A SPINOFF OF THE LARGER PEACE GAME, DSF ALSO HELPED THE FOREIGN SERVICE INSTITUTE LAUNCH A SIMULATED EXERCISE BASED ON THE PEACE GAME SCENARIO IN THEIR POLITICAL-MILITARY CAPSTONE COURSE IN FEBRUARY 2023. DSF ALSO EXPANDED ITS RELATIONSHIP WITH THE DEPARTMENT OF DEFENSE, HOSTING THE COMMAND AND GENERAL STAFF COLLEGE'S ADVANCED STRATEGIC LEADERSHIP STUDIES PROGRAM FOR A PANEL DISCUSSION ON THE PEACE GAME IN AUGUST 2023 AND ATTENDING THE 95TH CIVIL AFFAIRS BRIGADE'S STABILIZATION AND CAPSTONE EXERCISE AT FORT LIBERTY IN SEPTEMBER 2023. THE WORK DONE BY DSF IN 2023 SETS THE PROGRAM UP TO GREATER INSTITUTIONALIZATION IN 2024.
AI POLICY AND DIPLOMACY SEMINAR SERIES: DSF ESTABLISHED A NEW PROGRAM IN 2023, THE AI POLICY AND DIPLOMACY SEMINAR SERIES. THE SERIES OF FOUR SEMINARS EXPLORES THE NATIONAL SECURITY IMPLICATIONS OF AI AND FOSTERS BETTER COLLABORATION ON EMERGING TECHNOLOGY ISSUES BETWEEN THE DEPARTMENT OF STATE, CONGRESS, AND THE PRIVATE SECTOR. IN EARLY 2023, DSF CULTIVATED A PARTNERSHIP WITH MERIDIAN INTERNATIONAL CENTER TO SERVE AS CO-HOSTS OF THE SERIES. DSF THEN LEVERAGED ITS RELATIONSHIP WITH THE DEPARTMENT OF STATE TO GET DEPARTMENTAL SUPPORT FOR THE SERIES, INCLUDING A DEPARTMENTAL CIRCULATION OF A CALL FOR APPLICANTS. DSF ALSO DEVELOPED THE SERIES CURRICULUM AND RECRUITED EXPERTS WORKING AT THE INTERSECTION OF AI AND NATIONAL SECURITY TO SERVE AS SESSION SPEAKERS.
