THE MARGARET HACKETT FAMILY CENTER IS DESIGNED TO HELP FAMILIES FIND THE CRITICAL MEDICAL CARE FOR THEIR CHILDREN WHO HAVE RARE CONGENITAL CONDITIONS AFFECTING THE CENTRAL NERVOUS SYSTEM. CONGENITAL CONDITIONS AFFECTING THE CENTRAL NERVOUS SYSTEM REFERS TO BIRTH DEFECTS THAT AFFECT THE BRAIN AND/OR SPINE, SOMETIMES MANIFESTING AT BIRTH (I.E. SPINA BIFIDA) AND AT OTHER TIMES MANIFEST MUCH LATER IN LIFE AFFECTING BOTH CHILDREN AND ADULTS (LIKE CHIARI MALFORMATION TYPE 1).
