THE PURPOSE FOR WHICH THIS FOUNDATION IS FORMED ARE FOR PURELY CHARITABLE PURPOSES, REGARDLESS OF RACE, COLOR OR CREED TO PROVIDE EDUCATIONAL PROGRAMS TO STUDENTS. THE FOUNDATION DEVELOPS PROGRAMS IN CONJUNCTION WITH EDUCATIONAL INSTITUTIONS AND HELPS IMPLEMENT THEM IN CLASSROOM SETTINGS. THESE PROGRAMS WILL FOCUS ON SCIENCE, TECHNOLOGY, ENGINEERING AND MATH (STEM) TOPICS AS THESE ARE BECOMING INCREASINGLY IMPORTANT IN TODAY'S WORLD AND THE PROGRAMS WILL ENABLE STUDENTS TO PURSUE CAREERS IN THESE FIELDS.

MASSACHUSETTS STEM WEEK: THE FOUNDATION CONDUCTS STEM WEEK PROGRAMS FOR THE SCHOOLS LOCATED IN THE STATE OF MASSACHUSSETS AND CITY OF BOSTON. THE FOUNDATION DEVELOPS IMMERSIVE PROJECT-BASED SCIENCE, TECHNOLOGY, ENGINEERING AND MATH (STEM) PROGRAMS FOR MIDDLE SCHOOL STUDENTS WITH THE INTENT OF INCREASING THE NUMBER OF STUDENTS, ESPECIALLY GIRLS AND OTHER TRADITIONALLY UNDER-REPRESENTDGROUPS, WHO PERSUE STEM FIELDS OF STUDY AND EVENTUALLY CAREERS IN STEM. IN PARTNERSHIP WITH SCHOOLS AND OTHER EDUCATIONAL INSTITUTIONS, THE FOUNDATION TRANSFORMS MIDDLE SCHOOLS INTO STEM LEARNING LABS TO EXPOSE AND ENGAGE STUDENTS IN DIFFERENT STEM FIELDS. DURING STEM WEEK, REGULARLY SCHEDULED COURSE PERIODS ARE REPLACED BY HANDS-ON CURRICULUM DEVELOPED BY MIT AND A NUMBER OF OTHER LEADING STEM ORGANIZATIONS. OVER THE FIVE DAYS, TEACHERS AND STUDENTS WORK IN TEAMS TO SOLVE REAL-WORLD PROBLEMS IN A CLASSROOM WHERE HANDS-ON EXPERIMENTATION, CRITICAL THINKING, AND COLLABORATION ARE ENCOURAGED AND USED AS TEACHING TECHNIQUES TO ENGAGE AND INSPIRE STUDENTS.I2 PROGRAMS ARE DESIGNED TO BE IMPLEMENTED WITH TEACHERS AND STUDENTS OF ALL BACKGROUNDS AND ABILITIES, INCLUDING ENGLISH LANGUAGE LEARNERS.
CURRICULAM DEVELOPMENT AND COURSE KITS:I2 LEARNING HAS PARTNERED WITH OVER 20 OF THE WORLD'S LEADING STEM ORGANIZATIONS TO DEVELOP 60 UNIQUE HANDS-ON STEM COURSES. ALL COURSES ARE 20-25 HOURS OF HANDS-ON, PROJECT-BASED CURRICULUM, DESIGNED TO BE TAUGHT OVER THE COURSE OF A WEEK. THE COURSES CAN BE RUN FOR STUDENTS OF ALL ABILITIES AND BACKGROUNDS IN GRADES 4 TO 8 AND ALL CURRICULUM MAPS TO THE NEXT GENERATION SCIENCE STANDARDSADDITIONALLY, THE FOUNDATION HAS ALSO COMMENCED A FULL YEAR CURRICULAM PROGRAM REDESIGN AND LEARNING IN MIDDLE SCHOOL. WITH A FOCUS ON MAKING SCHOOLWORK MORE INTERDISCIPLINARY, I2 FULL YEAR PROGRAM AIMS TO MAKE SCHOOL MORE LIKE THE REAL WORLD WITH LEARNING THAT IS MORE MEANINGFUL AND AUTHENTIC TO STUDENTS.I2 FULL YEAR IS A COMPLETE RE-WRITE OF AN ENTIRE YEAR OF 4TH, 5TH, AND 6TH GRADE. ALL DISCIPLINES AND STATE STANDARDS ARE ADDRESSED THROUGH PROJECTS THAT ARE BASED ON ONE THEME PER GRADE.I2 LEARNING ALSO PROVIDES COMPLETE COURSE KITS CONTAINING ALL MATERIALS NEEDED TO RUN EACH OF THE COURSES. SOME COURSES HAVE TECHNOLOGY REQUIREMENTS SUCH AS LAPTOPS AND INTERNET ACCESS THAT I2 DOES NOT PROVIDE AND THESE REQUIREMENTS ARE DISCUSSED WITH SCHOOLS BEFORE CHOOSING AN APPROPRIATE PROGRAM. TEACHER AND STUDENT GUIDES ARE AVAILABLE FOR EACH COURSE, WITH SOME COURSE BOOKLETS AVAILABLE IN SPANISH.
GENERAL STEM PROGRAM ; THE FOUNDATION DEVELOPS PROGRAMS IN CONJUNCTION WITH EDUCATIONAL INSTITUTIONS AND HELPS IMPLEMENT THEM IN CLASSROOM SETTINGS. THESE PROGRAMS WILL FOCUS ON SCIENCE, TECHNOLOGY, ENGINEERING AND MATH (STEM) TOPICS.
SAN DIEGO STEM PROGRAM ; THIS PROJECT IS A PILOT STEM WEEK PROGRAM AT THE KNOX MIDDLE SCHOOL IN SAN DIEGO. JUST AS WE STARTED OUR SUCCESSFUL MASSACHUSETTS STEM WEEK PROGRAM WITH A SCHOOL IN BOSTON IN 2015, WE ARE LOOKING TO EXPOSE THE SAN DIEGO SCHOOL DISTRICT TO THE I2 STEM WEEK PROGRAM BY PILOTING THE PROGRAM IN ONE LOCATION IN SAN DIEGO. THE KNOX MIDDLE SCHOOL IS AN UNDERPERFORMING SCHOOL WHERE OVER 90% OF THE STUDENTS ARE ON FREE OR REDUCED PRICE LUNCH. THE SCHOOL IS GRADES 6-8 WITH APPROXIMATELY 200 STUDENTS IN EACH GRADE.
