MOBILE DELIVERY TN. ST. ALEXIUS OUTREACH MINISTRIES ("SAOM") DELIVERS EMERGENCY FOOD PACKAGES DOOR TO DOOR TO PARTICIPANTS IN A CRISIS WHO LACK TRANSPORTATION, MOBILITY AND ARE UNABLE TO PICK UP FOOD FROM THE CHATTANOOGA AREA FOOD BANK. EMERGENCY REQUESTS ARE MADE TO THE UNITED WAY 211 CALL CENTER AND THE FOOD IS DELIVERED MONDAY THRU FRIDAY WITHIN A 25 MILE RADIUS OF THE CHATTANOOGA CENTRAL AREA. IN 2021, SAOM DELIVERED OVER 6,000 EMERGENCY FOOD PACKAGES TO INDIVIDUALS AND FAMILIES EXPERIENCING FOOD INSECURITY. OUR PROGRAM VALUES COMPASSION, DIGNITY OF THE POOR, CARE OF THE POOR, HOLISM AND PARTNERSHIP AS WE ENGAGE TO PROVIDE THIS EMERGENCY ASSISTANCE TO THOSE IN NEED.
MORE THAN FOOD. IN DIRECT RESPONSE TO COMMUNITY NEEDS EXPRESSED BY THE UNITED WAY COVID-19 OLDER ADULT TASK FORCE, A FOOD PANTRY WAS DESIGNED THAT DELIVERS PACKAGES OF SUPPLEMENTAL GROCERIES MONTHLY TO FIVE SENIOR CENTERS IN COUNTIES OUTSIDE OF CHATTANOOGA. SAOM PURCHASES AND PREPARES PACKAGES FOR DELIVERY, EACH EARMARKED FOR A SENIOR. IN OUR COMPASSION TO SUPPORT OUR SENIOR NEIGHBORS, IN 2021 WE PROVIDED 1,200 PACKAGES. SAOM PLANS TO GREATLY EXPAND THESE SERVICES IN THE NEXT YEAR TO ADDITIONAL SENIOR CENTERS. THE MORE THAN FOOD PROGRAM IS A VITAL LIFELINE "ANSWERING THE CALL" IN-ONGOING SERVICE TO THIS VULNERABLE POPULATION BY PROVIDING SUPPLEMENTAL NUTRITIONAL NEEDS.
HOSPITALITY AT HOME (HAH). THE HAH PROGRAM PROVIDES ONGOING FRIENDSHIP AND SUPPORTIVE SERVICES TO ASSIST IN THE ALLEVIATION OF ISOLATION AND LONELINESS IN THE LIVES OF VULNERABLE OLDER ADULTS (70+) LIVING ALONE WITHIN THE GREATER CHATTANOOGA, TENNESSEE AREA. REFERRALS ARE RECEIVED FROM PARTNERING AGENCIES, SUCH AS TN ADULT PROTECTIVE SERVICES, HOME CARE AGENCIES, PHYSICIANS AND OTHER SERVICE PROVIDERS. IN 2021, THE ALEXIAN BROTHERS STAFF AND VOLUNTEERS PROVIDED SUPPORTIVE SERVICES SUCH AS SECURING TRANSPORTATION TO MEDICAL APPOINTMENTS, NUTRITIONAL FOODS, MEDICATIONS, REFERRALS TO OTHER SUPPORT AGENCIES, REASSURANCE PHONE CALLS, CARDS AND HOLIDAY GIFTS. THERE ARE NO FEES FOR PARTICIPATION OR SERVICES, REGARDLESS OF RACE, ETHNICITY, CREED, GENDER, ORIENTATION, DISABILITY, RELIGIOUS AFFILIATION, OR INCOME LEVEL. SAOM ENVISIONS 'A COMMUNITY WHERE OUR ELDERS KNOW THEY ARE CARED FOR AND VALUED.
MOBILE DELIVERY ILLINOIS. THE MOBILE FOOD DELIVERY MINISTRY IN ILLINOIS PROVIDES FOOD PACKAGES FOR MORE THAN 225 LOW-INCOME ADULTS SENIORS AND FAMILIES THAT ARE HOMEBOUND ON THE WEST SIDE OF CHICAGO. IN PARTNERSHIP WITH THE FRANCISCANS OF THE EUCHARIST , THE OUR LADY OF ANGELS FOOD DISTRIBUTION PANTRY PROVIDES FOOD PACKAGES WHICH SAOM DELIVERS WEEKLY TO RECIPIENT HOMES OR DROP OFF POINTS SUCH AS LOCAL CHURCHES FOR FURTHER DISTRIBUTION TO THOSE IN NEED. FROM JULY TO DECEMBER 2021, SAOM DELIVERED OVER 4,000 FOOD PACKAGES TO INDIVIDUALS AND FAMILIES WITHOUT ACCESS TO BASIC NEEDS. OUR PROGRAM VALUES COMPASSION, DIGNITY OF THE POOR, CARE OF THE POOR, HOLISM AND PARTNERSHIP AS WE OFFER PHYSICAL NOURISHMENT AND SPIRITUAL/HOLISTIC CARE FOR DISADVANTAGED INDIVIDUALS AND FAMILIES. SAOM COMMITS TO PRIORITIZE RACIAL AND SOCIAL ECONOMIC JUSTICE AND HEALTH EQUALITY.
