THE FORE HADLEY FOUNDATION WAS CREATED TO DRIVE AWARENESS AND GENERATE FUNDING FOR FAMILIES AND CHILDREN AFFECTED BY CONGENITAL DIAPHRAGMATIC HERNIA (CDH). CDH IS A RARE BIRTH DEFECT THAT EFFECTS ROUGHLY 1 IN EVERY 2,500 LIVE BIRTHS PER YEAR WORLDWIDE, WITH A CURRENT SURVIVAL RATE OF ONLY 50%. FOUNDED IN 2016 BY RYAN AND KATIE BUSH AFTER THE LOSE OF THEIR DAUGHTER HADLEY TO THE DEVASTING BIRTH DEFECT. THE FOUNDATION IS DEDICATED TO ENABLING AND SUPPORTING THE MEDICAL RESEARCH COMMUNITY AND AFFECTED FAMILIES BY PROVIDING FUNDS AIDING BOTH RESEARCH AND RECOVERY. THE ORGANIZATION IS DRIVEN TO MAKE A DIFFERENCE BY PURSUING THE CAUSE OF CDH AND NEW INNOVATIVE METHODS FOR INTERVENTION OR TREATMENT. FORE HADLEY CDH RESEARCH FUND: THIS PROGRAM IS DEDICATED TO SUPPORTING THE ACADEMIC MEDICAL RESEARCH COMMUNITY IN THEIR PURSUIT OF FINDING THE CAUSE OF CDH, AND/OR A CURE USING NEW PREVENTATIVE OR CORRECTIVE MEASURES. OVER THE COURSE OF ITS EXISTENCE, GRANTS HAVE BEEN PROVIDED TO SOME OF THE NATIONS LEADING PEDIATRIC RESEARCH INSTITUTIONS, INCLUDING: CHILDRENS HEALTHCARE OF ATLANTA, CHILDRENS HOSPITAL OF PHILADELPHIA, DHREAMS CLINICAL AT COLUMBIA UNIVERSITY, AND JOHNS HOPKINS ALL CHILDRENS HOSPITAL.
FORE HADLEY ANGELS IN THE NICU FUND: THE PURPOSE OF FORE HADLEY ANGELS IN THE NICU GRANTS ARE TO ASSIST CURRENT AND FUTURE FAMILIES DEALING WITH A CDH DIAGNOSTIC. BY PROVIDING FINANCIAL CONTRIBUTIONS TO ASSIST THOSE FAMILIES WITH THE COSTS ASSOCIATED WITH MEDICAL CARE EXPENSES, EXTENDED LONG DISTANCE TRAVEL, AND LIVING ARRANGEMENTS. COSTS THAT ARE OFTEN A MUST TO ENSURE ACCESS TO THE PROPER SPECIALTY CARE NEEDED BY CDH BABIES. FUNDS MAY BE USED FOR COSTS SUCH AS TRAVEL EXPENSES (AIR TRAVEL, GAS, HOTELS, RENTAL CARS, ETC.), MEDICAL OR DIAGNOSTIC APPOINTMENTS/STUDIES, SUPPLIES WHILE AWAY, ETC. FORE HADLEY ANGELS IN THE NICU GRANTS ARE AWARDED ON THE BASIS OF A COMPREHENSIVE PROCESS AND ARE AWARDED ON A ROLLING BASIS AND ARE GRANTED ON MERIT WITHOUT REGARD TO RACE, RELIGION, CREED, SEX, NATIONAL ORIGIN, SEXUAL ORIENTATION, OR DISABILITY STATUS.
FORE HOPE SCHOLARSHIP FUND: THIS PROGRAM IS DEDICATED TO RAISING AWARENESS OF THE EXISTENCE OF CDH TO MEMBERS OF THE GENERAL POPULATION, AND IS DONE SO BY PROVIDING SCHOLARSHIP FUNDS TO EITHER SURVIVORS OF A CDH DIAGNOSIS OR DIRECT FAMILY MEMBER(MOTHER, FATHER, BROTHER, SISTER, ETC.) OF A CDH CHILD FOR THEIR PURSUIT OF AN ADVANCED EDUCATION DEGREE OF THEIR CHOOSING. APPLICATIONS ARE ACCEPTED ON AN ANNUAL BASIS (TYPICALLY IN SPRING) AND ARE GRANTED ON MERIT WITHOUT REGARD TO RACE, RELIGION, CREED, SEX, NATIONAL ORIGIN, SEXUAL ORIENTATION OR DISABILITY STATUS.
