TEACH WESTERN MASS CONTRACTED TO GENERATION TEACH (GT). GT IS A NON-PROFIT, NON-PARTISAN ORGANIZATION WHICH PARTNERS WITH DISTRICT AND CHARTER SCHOOLS TO DEVELOP TALANTED AND DIVERSE YOUNG PEOPLE ("TEACHING FELLOWS") WITH LOCAL PATHWAYS INTO CAREERS IN EDUCATION. GT'S SUMMER PROGRAM INCLUDES A TWO WEEK TRAINING PERIOD FOR TEACHING FELLOWS AS WELL AS A SUMMER ACADEMY DESIGNED TO CLOSE THE OPPORTUNITY GAP FOR LOW-INCOME URBAN MIDDLE-SCHOOL STUDENTS.
THE TEACH WESTERN MASS RESIDENCY IS A ONE-YEAR, ACCELERATED TRAINING AND LICENSURE PROGRAM. IT GIVES ASPIRING TEACHERS WITHOUT PRIOR EDUCATION COURSEWORK OR EXPERIENCE FROM ALL BACKGROUNDS THE CHANCE TO LEAD A CLASSROOM WHILE RECEIVING SIGNIFICANT SUPPORT TOWARD EARNING MASSACHUSETTS CERTIFICATION.
