THE CITY OF AUSTIN, THROUGH THE NEIGHBORHOOD HOUSING AND COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT DEPARTMENT, HAS DEVELOPED THE AUSTIN STRATEGIC HOUSING PLAN, A COMPREHENSIVE PLAN FOR ADDRESSING AUSTIN'S HOUSING CHALLENGES. SPECIFICALLY, THE PLAN CALLS FOR THE DEVELOPMENT OF A FUND THAT WILL STRATEGICALLY ACQUIRE, RENOVATE, AND MANAGE EXISTING MULTI-FAMILY BUILDINGS TO MAKE THEM AFFORDABLE FOR THE LONG TERM. AFFORDABLE CENTRAL TEXAS, WITH INITIAL FUNDING AND SIGNIFICANT INPUT AND INVOLVEMENT FROM THE CITY OF AUSTIN, PLANS TO ESTABLISH AND OPERATE THIS FUND.
