THE ARCHIVES OF AMERICAN FALCONRY WAS FOUNDED IN 1986 TO STEM THE LOSS OF FALCONRY'S HISTORICAL RECORD IN THE UNITED STATES AS PIONEER FALCONERS DIED. UNIQUE IN THE WORLD, THE ARCHIVES ORIGINAL INTENT EXPANDED WITH THE INTERNATIONAL NATURE OF HISTORIC MATERIALS BEING COLLECTED. THE NAME SUBSEQUENTLY WAS SHORTENED TO THE ARCHIVES OF FALCONRY IN 2003 AND IT NOW FOCUSES ON THE HISTORY OF THIS ANCIENT SPORT WORLDWIDE. THE ARCHIVES MISSION CONTINUES TO BE TO COLLECT, PRESERVE AND MAKE ACCESSIBLE THE PHYSICAL EVIDENCE OF FALCONERS' ACHIEVEMENTS WORLDWIDE AND TO DOCUMENT THEIR ROLE IN RAPTOR CONSERVATION.CONTINUED ON SCHEDULE OCOVID-19 HAD A MAJOR IMPACT ON THE ONSITE OPERATIONS OF THE ARCHIVES OF FALCONRY. THE ARCHIVES WAS NOT OPEN TO THE PUBLIC DUE TO THE PANDEMIC. THE ARCHIVES' ANNUAL SPRING RENDEZVOUS, A CEREMONY WHICH HONORS FALCONERS WHO HAVE PASSED AWAY WITH A PLAQUE ON THE ARCHIVES' WALL OF REMEMBRANCE, WAS CANCELLED. OVER 200 FALCONERS AND THEIR FAMILIES NORMALLY ATTEND THIS EVENT TO PARTICIPATE IN THE CUSTOMARY EVENTS AND CELEBRATION OF LIFE BANQUET. THE ANNUAL SPRING RENDEZVOUS HAS BEEN RESCHEDULED TO 2022 DUE TO THE COVID-19 PANDEMIC.
