WE PROVIDED MEDICAL SUPPLIES TO CHILDREN IN ORPHANAGES AND FOSTER CARE SETTINGS, INCLUDING: VITAMIN SUPPLEMENTS FOR INFANTS AND CHILDREN, NEOSPORIN, PAIN RELIEVERS, NG FEEDING TUBE SUPPLIES, SPECIALLY TREATED BANDAGES AND GAUZE. WE FUNDED THE FOLLOWING SURGICAL INTERVENTIONS AND MEDICAL TREATMENTS: (1) HEART SURGERY FOR TWO ORPHANED CHILDREN IN CHINA (2) EMERGENCY HOSPITAL CARE FOR FOUR ABANDONED BABIES IN UGANDA (3) HOSPITAL AND FUNERAL EXPENSES FOR FOUR VULNERABLE CHILDREN (4) WOUND CARE FOR A YOUNG GIRL WHO SUFFERED FROM BURN INJURIES (5) HIP SURGERY FOR AN ORPHANED BOY IN UGANDA (6) CANCER TREATMENTS FOR A YOUNG ABANDONED MOTHER IN UGANDA (7) MEDICAL TREATMENT FOR A YOUNG GIRL IN UGANDA WITH HORMONAL DISEASE. WE PURCHASED A STATE-OF-THE-ART ECHOCARDIOGRAM MACHINE FOR THE FIRST FEMALE CARDIOLOGIST IN UGANDA SERVING ALL AGES OF VULNERABLE CHILDREN. WE PROVIDED THREE HEART MONITORS + A CENTRAL STATION FOR A HOSPITAL IN KURDISTAN.
ADOPTION ASSISTANCE, AWARENESS, & ADVOCACY - WE ISSUED TWENTY-ONE "SAY YES" GRANTS OF $2,000 FOR THE ADOPTION OF CHILDREN WITH SPECIAL NEEDS IN EIGHT DIFFERENT COUNTRIES. INCLUDED WERE FOUR FAMILIES ADOPTING MULTIPLE CHILDREN. THESE GRANTS WERE GIVEN USING LIFESONG FOR ORPHANS, INC., A NON-PROFIT ORGANIZATION, TO ACT AS OUR INDEPENDENT REVIEW COMMITTEE. IN AN EFFORT TO "WRAP-AROUND" GRANT FAMILIES, WE CONTINUED TO PROVIDE THE OPTION OF A PRAYER PARTNER, A COPY OF "THE CONNECTED PARENT" AND QUARTERLY TRAUMA-INFORMED TRAINING SESSIONS. IN OUR ADVOCACY EFFORTS, WE LAUNCHED THE FIRST CHAPTER OF ARISE IN DELRAY BEACH, FLORIDA - BRINGING ADOPTION RESOURCES, INFORMATION, STORIES, AND ENCOURAGEMENT TO SHINE A LIGHT ON ADOPTION AND PROVIDE SUPPORT FOR FAMILIES IN THE PROCESS. WE CONTINUED OUR WEEKLY SOCIAL MEDIA SERIES CALLED "SEE ME SATURDAY" TO BRING AWARENESS TO ORPHANS IN NEED OF FAMILIES. WE ALSO CONTINUED OUR "STORIES OF YES" SOCIAL MEDIA HIGHLIGHTS TO SHINE A LIGHT ON ADOPTION THROUGH THE TRUE STORIES OF ADOPTIVE FAMILIES. WE CONTINUED TO BRING AWARENESS TO THE ORPHAN CRISIS THROUGH EVENTS AND SPEAKING ENGAGEMENTS, OUR MEMOIR "WITH AN OPEN HEART", AND OUR LOGO NECKLACES THAT SUPPORT ORPHAN CARE INITIATIVES. LOGO NECKLACES AND COPIES OF BOOKS WERE DONATED TO FAMILIES FOR ADOPTION AUCTION FUNDRAISERS.
MEETING THE BASIC NEEDS OF ORPHANS - IN PARTNERSHIP WITH LOVE WITHOUT BOUNDARIES FOUNDATION, AND HOME FREE, WE CONTINUED TO OFFER CHILD SPONSORSHIP OPPORTUNITIES TO OUR DONORS. IN 2021, OUR SPONSORSHIP PROGRAM CONSISTED OF FOURTEEN ORPHANED CHILDREN FROM UGANDA (9), CAMBODIA (4) AND CHINA (1) DESIGNATED TO OHFO FOR SECURING MONTHLY SPONSORSHIPS TO PROVIDE FOR THEIR CARE. IN 2021, WE ALSO BEGAN A TUITION SPONSORSHIP PROGRAM TO HELP VULNERABLE CHILDREN ATTEND SCHOOL IN UGANDA. THE SPONSORSHIP GREW TO COVER 36 CHILDREN ON A MONTHLY BASIS FOR OUR PARTNER, UGANDA RURAL FUND, TO IMPLEMENT AN AT-HOME LEARNING PROGRAM DURING THE PANDEMIC. IN THIS PROGRAM, TEACHERS WERE ABLE TO DISTRIBUTE LEARNING PACKETS TO THE CHILDREN IN THEIR COMMUNITIES AND THEN PICK THEM UP. THEY WERE ABLE TO ENGAGE ADDITIONAL CHILDREN IN THE VILLAGES. THEY WERE ABLE TO TEACH CHILDREN AT A SOCIAL DISTANCE IN SMALL GROUPS. IN PARTNERSHIP WITH THREE OF OUR UGANDA PARTNER ORGANIZATIONS, WE FUNDED THE BUILDING OF BRAND NEW HOMES FOR SEVEN VULNERABLE FAMILIES - SOME OF THE CHILDREN FROM ABANDONMENT - IN UGANDA. FUNDS WERE PROVIDED FOR THE FULL FURNISHING OF THESE HOMES INCLUDING BEDDING, DINING AND LIVING ROOM FURNITURE AND KITCHEN SUPPLIES. THESE HOMES WERE COMPLETE WITH SOLAR LIGHTING, LATRINES, SHOWERS, RAINWATER CATCH SYSTEMS FOR DRINKING/SHOWERING AND KITCHEN AREAS WITH A BUILT-IN SHOP AREA FOR SOME OF THEM. THIS STRUCTURE IS INTENDED TO HELP SINGLE MOTHERS CREATE SUSTAINABILITY TO PROVIDE FOR THEIR FAMILIES. WE PROVIDED BASIC NECESSITIES FOR MANY FAMILIES IN UGANDA INCLUDING OVER 100 NEW BEDS, BEDDING, MOSQUITO NETS, COOKING UTENSILS, AND CLOTHING. THROUGH OUR "FAMILIES FEEDING FAMILIES" CAMPAIGN, APPROXIMATELY 1,000 VULNERABLE HUMANS IN UGANDA RECEIVED CRITICAL FOOD SUPPORT DURING COVID-19 LOCK DOWNS. WE FUNDED WATER TANKS FOR 25 FAMILIES IN UGANDA, PROVIDING CLEAN WATER. WE FUNDED THE BUILDING OF LATRINES FOR 15 FAMILIES IN UGANDA. WITH OUR PARTNER HOME FREE, 21 ORPHANED OR ABANDONED CHILDREN IN UGANDA MOVED OUT OF ORPHANAGES AND INTO FOSTER FAMILIES THROUGH OUR "EMPTY THE ORPHANAGES" CAMPAIGN. OVER THIRTY VULNERABLE CHILDREN IN UGANDA WERE EDUCATED, EVEN IN THE PANDEMIC. MULTIPLE SUSTAINABILITY PROJECTS WERE CREATED FOR SINGLE AND/OR WIDOWED MOTHERS TO PREVENT CHILDREN FROM BECOMING ORPHANS. WE PROVIDED FORMULA TO MULTIPLE BABIES IN DESPERATE NEED OF NOURISHMENT, ALONG WITH TRANSPORT TO THE HOSPITAL FOR MEDICAL EVALUATION AND A NUTRITION PROGRAM TO HELP THEM THRIVE. WE SPONSORED A "ST. NICHOLAS COMES TO UGANDA" EVENT AND 136 CHILDREN IN UGANDA RECEIVED THE GIFT OF A SMALL TOY. AN ADDITIONAL 40 CHILDREN RECEIVED SHOES AND A MEAL.
