Part 3
THE MISSION OF LIVING FREE IS TO SERVE WOMEN IN NORTH CENTRAL IOWA BY PROVIDING A SAFE PLACE FOR THOSE SEEKING RECOVERY AND RESTORATION FROM THE WOUNDS OF THE PAST AND PRESENT BY DISCOVERING THE TOOLS AND SKILLS NEEDED TO RECOVER AND PROSPER. WE DO THIS THROUGH A RESIDENTIAL HOUSE CALLED "MEGAN'S HOPE HOUSE", A RESOURCE CENTER CALLED "THE BEACON", AND BY REACHING OUT TO PARTNER WITH VARIOUS INSTITUTIONS IN THE COMMUNITY. MEGAN'S HOPE HOUSE IS FOR WOMEN WHO HAVE ADDICTIONS THEY ARE SEEKING TO OVERCOME AND NEED THE NURTURING AND ACCOUNTABLE ENVIRONMENT OF A RESIDENTIAL HOME TO FURTHER SOLIDIFY THEIR SOBRIETY. WE RECEIVE WOMEN FROM PRISON, FROM THE LOCAL TREATMENT CENTER, AND DIRECTLY FROM THE COMMUNITY. THEY ARE REQUIRED TO GET A JOB AND THEY PAY A MONTHLY FEE TOWARDS THE PROVISION OF THE HOUSE. THEY ARE MENTORED, DRUG/ALCOHOL TESTED, ENCOURAGED TO BE A POSITIVE CONTRIBUTOR TO THE HOUSE AND THE COMMUNITY. WE CAN HAVE UP TO FOUR WOMEN AT A TIME LIVING AT THE HOUSE. THE BEACON IS WHERE WE OFFER GROUPS AND CLASSES TO RESIDENTS AND WOMEN IN THE COMMUNITY. WE OFFER CLASSES ON PARENTING, HEALTHY RELATIONSHIPS, 12 STEP GROUPS, COUNSELING, AND OTHER TOPICS WHICH ARE ESPECIALLY RELAVANT TO THE NEEDS OF WOMEN. WE SERVE APPROXIMATELY 20 DIFFERENT WOMEN EACH WEEK IN VARIOUS WAYS. WE WORK IN PARTNERSHIP WITH THE LOCAL AGENCIES SUCH AS THE DEPARTMENT OF CORRECTION, PRAIRIE RIDGE INTEGRATED BEHAVIORAL TREATMENT, BEJE CLARK TRANSITIONAL CENTER, DRUG COURT, FAMILY PRESERVATION COURT, COUNTY JAIL, AND OTHER LOCAL AGENCIES AS WE SEEK TO HELP THOSE IN OUR COMMUNITY TO FIND HEALTH AND STABILITY. WE ARE SUPPORTED MOSTLY BY INDIVIDUALS WHO DONATE TO US AS WELL AS LOCAL CHURCHES, OCCASIONAL FOUNDATION GRANTS, AND RESIDENTIAL FEES.
