BOULDER FUNDTHE BOULDER FUND GRANTS SUPPORT ENTREPRENEURIAL VENTURES OF INNOVATIVE AND DIVERSE LEADERS WORKING TO ADVANCE EDLOC'S VALUES AND POLICY PRIORITIES. THE FUND IS INTEGRAL TO EDLOC'S STRATEGY OF ADVANCING VALUES-ALIGNED LEADERS OF COLOR COMMITTED TO DEMONSTRATING THE IMPACT OF CROSS-SECTOR APPROACHES. EDLOC INVESTS IN LEADERS AND ORGANIZATIONS THAT ARE TAKING VALUE-ALIGNED APPROACHES TO SOLVING THE MOST PRESSING CHALLENGES IN EDUCATION AND ARE INSPIRED BEING PART OF A NETWORK THAT COLLECTIVELY SEEKS TO BUILD GENERATIONAL WEALTH. IN 2022, THROUGH A COMPETITIVE GRANT APPLICATION PROCESS, EDLOC AWARDED $1,000,000 IN GRANTS (EACH $100,000) TO EDLOC MEMBERS WHO ARE SPEARHEADING OR EXPANDING INNOVATIONS ALIGNED WITH EDLOC'S VALUES AND POLICY PLATFORM. IN ADDITION TO DIRECT GRANT SUPPORT, EDLOC PROVIDES ADDITIONAL SUPPORT IN THE FORM OF COACHING AND THOUGHT PARTNERSHIP TO GRANTEES. THE GRANT RECIPIENTS LEAD ORGANIZATIONS FOCUSED ON IMPROVING LIFE OUTCOMES FOR CHILDREN OF COLOR ACROSS THE COUNTRY.
OTHER PROGRAMS, INCLUDING EXECUTIVE & STAFF SEARCH, NETWORK GROWTH & DEV., POLICY, RECONSTRUCTION, CRITICAL RACE THEORY (SOCIAL STUDIES ACCELERATOR), CONFERENCES, ADVISORY SERVICES, & ADVOCACY. EDLOC ADVANCES OUR VALUES IN TWO IMPORTANT WAYS: BY LEVERAGING OUR VALUES TO INFLUENCE AND GUIDE EDUCATION INITIATIVES AND PRIORITIES AND BY PLACING MEMBERS IN SENIOR LEADERSHIP ROLES IN KEY EDUCATION ORGANIZATIONS. GUIDED BY OUR VALUES AND PRINCIPLES, WE PROVIDE SERVICES TO ORGANIZATIONS SEEKING TO ADVANCE DIVERSITY AND EQUITY. WE ASSIST THEIR RECRUITMENT AND STAFFING EFFORTS, PARTICULARLY THOSE FOR EXECUTIVE-LEVEL ROLES, BY PROVIDING TALENT SUPPORT AND REFERRAL SERVICES. IN 2022, EDLOC ENGAGED OVER 80 PARTNER ORGANIZATIONS TO POST AND DISSIMINATE OVER 150 JOB AND CAREER OPPORTUNITIES. WE ALSO WORKED WITH PARTNERS TO IDENTIFY AND CONNECT WITH NEARLY 150 SPECIFIC MEMBERS THAT COULD HELP ADVANCE THEIR STRATEGIC OR PROGRAM PRIORITIES.
NETWORK CONVENINGSEDLOC HOSTS A SERIES OF CONVENINGS TO HELP IDENTIFY, CULTIVATE, AND BUILD THE CAPACITY OF OUR MEMBERS. OUR NATIONAL CONVENINGS PROVIDE OPPORTUNITIES TO BUILD OUR MEMBERS' KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERTISE AROUND OUR POLICY PLATFORM AND OTHER RELEVANT TOPICS. IMPORTANTLY, THE NATIONAL CONVENING HAS SERVED TO GROW AND CONNECT THE MEMBERSHIP, ELEVATE OUR SHARED VALUES, BUILD SKILLS, AND ALIGN ON OUR GOALS AND PRIORITIES. THROUGH OUR AFFINITY GROUPS AND REGIONAL NETWORKS, MEMBERS CONVENE TO STRATEGIZE AROUND HOW TO ADVANCE POLICIES CRITICAL TO PROTECTING AND SUPPORTING OUR STUDENTS, FAMILIES, AND COMMUNITIES AND BUILD RELATIONSHIPS TO CREATE STRONGER CROSS-SECTOR, MULTI-RACIAL COALITIONS. OUR CONVENINGS, WITH OVER 500 PARTICIPANTS IN 2022, HAVE ALSO FILLED A GAP IN THE FIELD TO NETWORK AND PROVIDE SUPPORT TO VALUES-ALIGNED, DIVERSE LEADERS IN EDUCATION AND RELATED FIELDS.
STRATEGYWE HOSTED A SERIES OF CONVERSATIONS IN KEY CITIES ("TURN & TALK" EVENTS) ACROSS THE COUNTRY FOCUSED ON OUR EVOLVED STRATEGY, ETC. THE EQUITY WE HOPE EDUCATION CAN FOSTER IS ONLY POSSIBLE IF WE CONFRONT AND ADDRESS THE SOCIAL AND ECONOMIC CHALLENGES THAT HAVE DISPROPORTIONATELY IMPACTED COMMUNITIES OF COLOR SINCE THIS NATION WAS FOUNDED. THROUGH OUR STRATEGY CONVERSATIONS, WE EXPLORE EDLOC'S EVOLVED VISION AND MORE HOLISTIC APPROACH TO DISMANTLING SYSTEMIC BARRIERS TO THE ACADEMIC AND ECONOMIC SUCCESS OF YOUNG PEOPLE OF COLOR. WE HELP LEADERS MAKE THE CONNECTIONS BETWEEN EDLOC'S WORK AND THEIR OWN PERSONAL JOURNEYS, OBSTACLES AND ALL, TO BECOMING THE LEADERS THEY ARE TODAY. WE DELVE INTO THE POLICY AND CULTURE TENSIONS WE'RE BATTLING TOGETHER -- FROM SUPREME COURT OVERREACH TO IMMIGRATION, RELIGION, SCHOOL ACTIVISM, AND MORE.
