TO PROVIDE COMPREHENSIVE SUPPORT SERVICES TO YOUTHS (ACADEMIC, PHYSICAL AND SOCIAL) THROUGH INTENTIONAL OUT OF SCHOOL PROGRAMS, ACADEMIC TUTORING AND OUTDOOR LEADERSHIP PROGRAM.

OUT OF SCHOOL TIME PROGRAMS (OST) WHICH PROVIDE MUCH NEEDED OPTIONS TO STUDENTS DURING NON-SCHOOL HOURS AND INCLUDE MONDAY - THURSDAYS AFTER SCHOOL, FRIDAYS DURING THE DAY, ALTERNATIVE BREAKS, AND DURING SUMMER MONTHS. PROGRAMS PROVIDE POSITIVE ADULT ATTENTION, ACADEMIC SUPPORT AND ENRICHMENT, SOCIAL/EMOTIONAL DEVELOPMENT AND CONNECTION WITH THE ENVIRONMENT. AC MEMBERS PROVIDE TRANSPORTATION TO AND FROM OST PROGRAMS THROUGHOUT THE YEAR TO ENSURE ACCESSIBILITY FOR ALL STUDENTS. IN SOME COMMUNITIES, OST PROGRAMS WOULD NOT EXIST WITHOUT AAI. THERE IS AN ADDED WORKFORCE BENEFIT TO THESE PROGRAMS BECAUSE THEY PROVIDE FAMILIES WITH MORE FLEXIBILITY FOR WORK HOURS.
ACADEMIC INTERVENTIONS TARGET STUDENTS PERFORMING BELOW PROFICIENCY. WORKING IN PARTNERSHIP WITH SEVERAL SCHOOLS, AAI USES ITS AC MEMBERS TO WORK ONE ON ONE AND IN SMALL GROUPS WITH STUDENTS IN NEED OF ACADEMIC ASSISTANCE. AAI MEMBERS GREATLY SUPPORT UNDER-STAFFED SCHOOLS WHICH DO NOT HAVE ADEQUATE PERSONNEL TO SERVE ALL STUDENTS PERFORMING BELOW PROFICIENCY. AAI SERVES MORE THAN 1,000 YOUTH THROUGH THESE PROGRAMS ANNUALLY.
OUTDOOR LEADERSHIP PROGRAMS ALLOW STUDENTS NEW AND EXPANDED OPPORTUNITIES TO UTILIZE THE OUTDOORS TO BUILD THEIR LEADERSHIP CAPACITY IN AGE APPROPRIATE/DEVELOPMENTAL WAYS. THIS COMPONENT PROVIDES STUDENTS WITH THE OPPORTUNITY TO HAVE BACKYARD TO BACKCOUNTRY EXPERIENCES SIMILAR IN SCOPE TO OUTWARD BOUND, YET PROVIDED COMPLETELY FREE OF CHARGE.
