FREE PLAY, WEEKENDS, SPECIAL EVENTS - DURING OUR OPEN PLAY WEEKENDS AT THE YARD ON GOVERNORS ISLAND, OVER 8,000 CHILDREN PLAYED ON OUR PLAYGROUND WITH FREE ADMISSION SUPPORTED BY OUR TRAINED STAFF. AT SPECIAL EVENTS, INCLUDING BIRTHDAY PARTIES AND PRIVATE RENTALS, GROUPS OF CHILDREN WERE ABLE TO SPEND 2 HOURS IN THE SPACE WITH OUR TRAINED STAFF.
SUMMER CAMP: OUR SUMMER DAY CAMP PROGRAM SERVES 250 CHILDREN OVER 11 WEEKLY SESSIONS. CHILDREN SPEND THE DAY AT OUR PLAYGROUND ON GOVERNORS ISLAND, SUPPORTED BY OUR TRAINED STAFF.
COMMUNITY EDUCATION - PROGRAMS INCLUDE IN-SCHOOL WORKSHOPS AND POP-UP PLAYGROUNDS, WHERE WE WORK WITH TEACHERS AND STUDENTS TO CREATE PLAYGROUNDS IN THEIR SCHOOL YARDS AND GYMS, CLASS FIELD TRIPS TO THE YARD, PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT WORKSHOPS FOR TEACHERS TO LEARN MORE ABOUT THE PRACTICE OF PLAYWORK, AND POP-UP PLAY DAYS ACROSS NEW YORK CITY. A POP-UP PLAY DAY IS A THREE HOUR FREE PLAY OPPORTUNITY IN A NEIGHBORHOOD PARK, BLOCK PARTY, OR COMMUNITY CENTER, STEWARDED BY OUR TRAINED STAFF, AND SERVICING UP TO 50 CHILDREN.
