2018 REPRESENTED THE SECOND FULL YEAR IN WHICH MADISON COMMUNITY POLICING FOUNDATION (MCPF) WAS OPERATIONAL. MCPF SUCCESSFULLY RAISED FUNDS TO HELP SUPPORT SEVERAL DIFFERENT INITIATIVES WHICH BROUGHT TOGETHER COMMUNITY AND POLICE OFFICERS. MCPF PROVIDED OVER $30,000 IN DIRECT SUPPORT TO THE CITY OF MADISON POLICE DEPARTMENT'S COMMUNITY POLICING EFFORTS. MCPF PROVIDED ADDITIONAL SUPPORT TO OTHER COMMUNITY ORGANIZATIONS WHO OPERATED OR SPONSORED EVENTS WHICH INVOLVED MADISON POLICE OFFICERS AND COMMUNITY POLICING ACTIVITIES. MCPF CONTINUED TO SUPPORT MPD NEIGHBORHOOD OFFICER JUSTIN NELSEN'S WESTSIDE BOXING CLUB INITIATIVE. MCPF ALSO PROVIDED SUPPORT THE THE MPD 911 EXPLORER POST PROGRAM FOR HIGH SCHOOL AGE STUDENTS WHO ARE INTERESTED IN PURSUING A CAREER IN POLICING. MCPF ALSO PROVIDED SUPPORT TO MPD'S MADISON AREA RECOVERY INITIATIVE (MARI) WHICH PROVIDES SUPPORT TO INDIVIDUALS AND THEIR FAMILIES WHO ARE SUFFERING FROM OPIOID ADDITION. MCPF ALSO CONTINUED SO SUPPORT THE MPD'S SUMMER AMIGOS EN AZUL YOUTH SOCCER INITIATIVE WHICH CONTINUES TO BE A HUGE SUCCESS ON SATURDAY'S THROUGHOUT THE SUMMER AT LEOPOLD SCHOOL. MCPF ALSO STARTED IN 2018 PLACING $500 VISA GIFT CARDS AT EACH OF MPD'S SIX DISTRICT POLICE STATIONS FOR OFFICERS TO ACCESS TO HELP PAY FOR PIZZA, FOOD OR OTHER MISCELLANEOUS EXPENSES ASSOCIATED WITH MPD COMMUNITY POLICING ACTIVITIES. OFFICERS PROVIDE DISTRICT ADMIN CLERKS W/ RECIEPTS WHICH ARE THEN FORWARDED TO MCPF FOR TRACKING AND ACCOUNTING PURPOSES. OVERALL, MCPF HAD A GREAT YEAR IN 2018, AND LOOKING FORWARD TO TAKING ON SOME BIGGER INITIATIVES WITH MPD AND OTHER LOCAL LAW ENFORCEMENT AGENCIES IN 2019.
