THE DREAMGIRLS INITIATIVE IS A NONPROFIT ORGANIZATION COMMITTED TO INSPIRING YOUNG WOMEN IN THE FIELDS OF SCIENCE, TECHNOLOGY, ENGINEERING, AND MATH (STEM) BY EXPOSING THEM TO FEMALE ROLE MODELS THROUGH A VARIETY OF PROGRAMMING.

THE DREAMGIRLS INITIATIVE HAS AN AFTERSCHOOL PROGRAM CALLED DREAMGIRLS IN ACTION. THIS PROGRAM WAS ALSO SUITABLE FOR VIRTUAL PROGRAMMING TO BE USED DURING THE CORONAVIRUS PANDEMIC. EACH MODULE BEGINS WITH A 20 MINUTE VIDEO INTERVIEW WITH A FEMALE STEM PROFESSIONAL, WHICH HIGHLIGHTS THE COMPANY SHE WORKS FOR, WHAT HER JOB IS, AND WHAT TYPE OF EDUCATION SHE HAS. THE VIDEO IS FOLLOWED BY A ONE-HOUR STEM ACTIVITY DIRECTLY RELATED TO THE JOB THE PARTICIPANTS HEARD ABOUT.
DREAM DAY WORKSHOPS ARE IN-PERSON EVENTS FOR UP TO 150 MIDDLE SCHOOL GIRLS. SIX ROLE MODELS FROM DIFFERENT CORPORATIONS SPEAK ABOUT THEIR STEM CAREERS AND THE SCIENCE INVOLVED IN WHAT THEY DO.
