INTERNATIONAL FIRST COMMITTEE ASSOCIATION, HOLDING COMPETITIONS AS FIRST GLOBAL , IS A NON-PROFIT ORGANIZATION ESTABLISHED TO EXCITE THE YOUTH AND NATIONS OF THE WORLD ABOUT THE VALUE OF INVESTING IN AND PURSUING STEM EDUCATION (SCIENCE, TECHNOLOGY, ENGINEERING AND MATHEMATICS) TO HELP BUILD THE SCIENCE, ENGINEERING, AND TECHNOLOGY SKILLS NEEDED BY NATIONS TO WORK ON GLOBAL CHALLENGES TOGETHER. DRIVEN BY THE ENTHUSIASM OF THE STUDENTS AS THEY COOPERATE IN TEAMS, EACH NATION IS INVITED TO ASSEMBLE THEIR OWN ROBOT AND SEND A HIGH SCHOOL STUDENT-TEAM TO REPRESENT ITS COUNTRY IN AN ANNUAL INTERNATIONAL OLYMPICS-STYLE ROBOTICS COMPETITION.

IN OCTOBER 2022, THE FIRST GLOBAL CHALLENGE WAS HOSTED IN GENEVA, SWITZERLAND. AN OLYMPIC-STYLE COMPETITION, THE 2022 CHALLENGE ENGAGED TEAMS FROM 179 NATIONS, WITH 162 TEAMS ABLE TO TRAVEL TO THE EVENT IN GENEVA. EACH TEAM IS ALLOWED A MAXIMUM OF FIVE STUDENT COMPETITORS TO ATTEND THE EVENT AS MEMBERS OF THE OFFICIAL TRAVELING TEAM, WITH AN UNLIMITED NUMBER OF TEAM MEMBERS ALLOWED TO WORK ON THE CHALLENGE IN THEIR HOME COUNTRY IN PREPARATION FOR THE EVENT. APPROXIMATELY 1,535 HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS PARTICIPATED, UNDER THE GUIDANCE OF OVER 700 VOLUNTEER MENTORS. THE 2022 THEME OF CARBON CAPTURE HIGHLIGHTED THE IMPORTANCE OF CAPTURING AND STORING CARBON DIOXIDE (CO2) TO REDUCE AND PREVENT ITS ACCUMULATION IN THE ATMOSPHERE. TEAMS LEARNED ABOUT THE IMPACT OF CO2 ON OUR ENVIRONMENT, THE TECHNOLOGIES BEING DEVELOPED AND ALREADY IN PLACE TO ENSURE THE SAFETY OF OUR PLANET THROUGH THE FUTURE, AND DEVELOPED THEIR OWN INNOVATIVE SOLUTIONS.
