SAINT MARTIN DE PORRES ACADEMY IS A FAITH-BASED, NATIVITYMIGUEL MIDDLE SCHOOL THAT (SEE SCH O) PROVIDES A TUITION-FREE, EXTENDED DAY EDUCATION FOR UNDERSERVED GIRLS AND BOYS FROM LOW-INCOME FAMILIES IN THE NEW HAVEN AREA. WE ARE AN INDEPENDENT CATHOLIC SCHOOL COMMITTED TO A BELIEF IN THE DIGNITY AND WORTH OF EVERY PERSON. WE STRIVE TO PROVIDE EACH CHILD WITH A PROMISING START IN LIFE AND TO EQUIP THEM TO FULFILL THEIR ACADEMIC POTENTIAL WHILE ACHIEVING SPIRITUAL AND SOCIAL MATURITY. THE MISSION OF SMPA IS TO END THE CYCLE OF POVERTY THROUGH EDUCATION. THROUGH OUR TUITION FREE MODEL SCHOOL, WE PROVIDE MIDDLE SCHOOL STUDENTS WITH A 10 HOURS SCHOOL DAY AND AN 11 MONTH SCHOOL YEAR. OUR SCHOOL OFFERS A HOLISTIC APPROACH TO EDUCATION PROVIDING STUDENTS WITH NOT ONLY THE ACADEMICS NEEDED TO SUCCEED BUT WITH ENRICHMENT EXPERIENCES SUCH AS FIELD TRIPS, A ROBUST MUSIC PROGRAM, SPORTS AND ARTS AND SERVICES ACTIVITIES. BEYOND THE MIDDLE SCHOOL YEARS, WE CONTINUE TO SUPPORT CHILDREN ACADEMICALLY, SOCIALLY, EMOTIONALLY AND FINANCIALLY IN THEIR HIGH SCHOOL AND COLLEGE YEARS THROUGH OUR GRADUATE SUPPORT PROGRAM. WE PROVIDE TUTORING, STANDARDIZED TEST PREP, COLLEGE VISITS, SUPPLIES AND MATERIALS AND OTHER TOOLS FOR KIDS TO SUCCEED. OUR GRADUATE SUPPORT PROGRAM COMPRISES $389,693 OF OUR ANNUAL EXPENSES IN FYE 2021 WHICH INCLUDES APPROXIMATELY $186,450 IN HIGH SCHOOL SCHOLARSHIP PAYMENTS AND $30,098 IN COLLEGE SCHOLARSHIP PAYMENTS. WE BOAST A 100% HIGH SCHOOL GRADUATION RATE FOR OUR GRADUATES.
