CASCADE COUNTY SEARCH AND RESCUE, ORIGINALLY MOUNTAIN PATROL OF MONTANA, WAS ORGANIZED IN 1962 BY A GROUP OF INDIVIDUALS WHO SAW A NEED IN OUR COMMUNITY. DURING 2022, CCMPSAR PARTICIPATED IN SEARCH AND RESCUE MISSIONS, COMMUNITY OUTREACH EVENTS AND RELATED TRAININGS. MISSIONS INCLUDED: 1 - TECHNICAL RESCUE OF A WOMEN IN TOWER ROCK STATE PARK 2 - RIVER RESCUE OF A BOY IN THE MISSOURI RIVER 3 - SEARCH FOR MAN WITH DEMENTIA WHO WANDERED OFF FROM FAMILY WHILE FISHING 4 - MEDICAL ASSISTANCE FOR INJURED HIKER IN SLUICE BOXES STATE PARK COMMUNITY OUTREACH INCLUDED: 1 - CLEANUP OF TWO MILES OF HIGHWAY THROUGH MDOT ADOPT A HIGHWAY 2 - DEMONSTRATIONS AT BOY SCOUT CAMP AND LADY OF LOURDES SERVICE DAY 3 - STAND BY SNOW EQUIPMENT SERVICE FOR WINTER TRAIL DAYS ON KING HILL 4 - POOL ASSISTANCE FOR SPECIAL OLYMPICS POLAR PLUNGE 5 - PRESENTATION OF THE HUG-A-TREE AND SURVIVE PROGRAM. DESIGNED TO TEACH CHILDREN AGES 5-12 HOW TO KEEP FROM GETTING LOST, WHAT TO DO IF THEY BECOME LOSS, HOW TO STAY WARM AND DRY, AND HOW THEY CAN HELP SEARCHERS FIND THEM. TRAININGS INCLUDE, BUT WERE NOT LIMIT TO: 1 - SWIFT WATER RESCUE CERTIFICATION AND SKILLS PRACTICE 2 - ICE RESCUE CERTIFICATION AND SKILLS PRACTICE 3 - HIGH AND LOW ANGLE RESCUE CERTIFICATION AND SKILLS PRACTICE 4 - WILDERNESS FIRST AID CERTIFICATION AND SKILLS PRACTICE 5 - KNOTS AND ROPE USAGE 6 - SAFE BOAT HANDLING OUR TYPICAL MISSION RESPONSE TIME IS FOUR TO EIGHT MEMBERS ON A 24/7 BASIS. WE STARTED THE YEAR WITH 12 ACTIVE MEMBERS AND FINISHED WITH 20. CASCADE COUNTY SHERIFF DEPUTIES ACTING AS LIAISON TO THE SHERRIFF'S OFFICE ACCOMPANY US ON MISSIONS. WE ARE CONTINUING TO ACTIVELY RECRUIT WITH A NEW PAGE ON THE SHERIFF'S DEPARTMENT WEBSITE AND USING SOCIAL MEDIA.
