OUR MISSION IS TO BE THE BRIDGE BETWEEN THE MOST VULNERABLE IN OUR COMMUNITY AND VOLUNTEERS WHO MAKE A DIFFERENCE. WE SERVE OUR COMMUNITY THROUGH FOUR VOLUNTEER DRIVEN PROGRAMS: 1) PLACER CASA, WHICH PROVIDES COURT APPOINTED SPECIAL ADVOCATES (CASAS) TO YOUTH IN FOSTER CARE AND YOUTH IN THE JUVENILE DELINQUENCY/PROBATION SYSTEM, 2) PLACER MENTORS, WHICH PROVIDES ADULT MENTORS FOR YOUTH WHO ARE AT RISK OF EDUCATIONAL FAILURE, OR OF ENTERING THE JUVENILE JUSTICE OR CHILD WELFARE SYSTEMS, AS WELL AS FORMER FOSTER YOUTH WHO HAVE AGED OUT OF FOSTER CARE, 3) FAMILY MENTORS, WHICH ASSIGNS MENTORS TO PARENTS WHO ARE STRIVING TO REBUILD THEIR FAMILIES AND REUNIFY WITH THEIR CHILDREN WHO ARE IN THE CHILD WELFARE SYSTEM, AND 4) PROSPER PLACER, WHICH UTILIZES COMMUNITY VOLUNTEERS TO HELP FAMILIES MOVE OUT OF POVERTY BY SHARING KNOWLEDGE, CONNECTIONS AND FRIENDSHIP. IN 2020-21 WE PROVIDED CASA VOLUNTEERS TO 351 FOSTER CHILDREN AND 35 JUVENILE JUSTICE YOUTH. OF THESE, 29 WERE INVOLVED IN OR WERE ATRISK OF INVOLVEMENT IN SEX TRAFFICKING. WE ALSO PROVIDED FAMILY MENTORS TO 72 STRUGGLING PARENTS, AND PROSPER PLACER "ALLIES" TO 26 FAMILIES. ALTOGETHER, WE DIRECTLY SERVED 484 INDIVIDUALS BY PROVIDING THEM WITH HIGHLY TRAINED VOLUNTEERS WHO DONATED 19,603 HOURS AND DROVE 92,324 MILES.
