THE SAN JOSE SPORTS AUTHORITY SUPPORTED THE EFFORTS OF THE CITY OF SAN JOSE TO HOST MANY EVENTS THIS YEAR. SOME OF THESE WORLD REKNOWNED EVENTS INCLUDED THE AMERICAN JUNIOR GOLF ASSOCIATION TOURNAMENT AT SAN JOSE COUNTRY CLUB AND THE SJSU MEN'S GOLF TOURNAMENT.
THE SAN JOSE SPORTS HALL OF FAME INDUCTION IS HELD EACH FALL AND RECOGNIZES THE COMMUNITY'S SPORTS HISTORY. INDUCTEES TO THE HALL OF FAME ARE HONORED AND RECOGNIZED FOR THEIR EXTRAORDINARY CONTRIBUTIONS IN BOTH SPORT AND PHILANTHROPY. IN ADDITION HIGH SCHOOL ATHLETES, COLLEGIATE ATHLETES AND A SPECIAL OLYMPICS ATHLETE ARE ALSO HONORED.
THE REACH YOUTH SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM HAS PROVIDED COLLEGE FUNDS OVER THE PAST 25 YEARS TO HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS WHO HAVE OVERCOME ADVERSITY TO EXCEL IN ACADEMICS AND SPORTS. EACH YEAR SANTA CLARA COUNTY HIGH SCHOOL SENIORS ARE NOMINATED FOR THE PROGRAM, WHICH STANDS FOR RECOGNIZING EXCELLENCE, ADVERSITY, COURAGE AND HARD WORK.
