AFTER SCHOOL AND SUMMER PROGRAMS: THE CENTER PROVIDES CARE FOR LOW INCOME CHILDREN BETWEEN THE AGES OF 4 AND 14. DURING THE SCHOOL YEAR, THE PROGRAM PROVIDES HOMEWORK ASSISTANCE AND COMPUTER USAGE FOR APPROXIMATELY 90 CHILDREN. DURING THE SUMMER, THE PROGRAM PROVIDES CAMPS IN VARIOUS SCHOOL SUBJECTS (SUCH AS SCIENCE, MATH AND LANGUAGE) AND SUPERVISED RECREATIONAL ACTIVITIES FOR APPROXIMATELY 110 CHILDREN. THE PROGRAM EMPLOYS TWO PART-TIME CERTIFIED TEACHERS WHO ASSIST IN IDENTIFYING CHILDREN WHO ARE NOT PERFORMING AT GRADE LEVEL, DESIGN CHILD-SPECIFIC PROGRAMS TO DEVLOPE SKILLS IN TARGETED AREAS, AND TRAIN AND SUPERVISE EXISTING STAFF TO IMPLEMENT THESE PROGRAMS.
