Part 3 - Line 4a
EIGHT DAYS OF HOPE, INC. EIGHT DAYS OF HOPE ALSO BUILDS SAFE HOUSES FOR THOSE RESCUED FROM HUMAN TRAFFICKING. WORKING WITH MINISTRIES THAT ARE ALREADY PROVIDING HOPE TO THOSE RESCUED, EDOH WILL RENOVATE OR BUILD FACILITIES FOR FREE, FOR MINISTRIES IN NEED. EDOH IS A MINISTRY TO SERVE THOSE IN NEED AND FOR THOSE VOLUNTEERS WHO HAVE A DESIRE TO SERVE. EDOH PROVIDES FOOD, LODGING, LOGISTICS, MATERIALS, EQUIPMENT AND THE OPPORTUNITY FOR MORNING AND EVENING TIMES OF WORSHIP FOR VOLUNTEERS AND HOMEOWNERS. IT IS THROUGH THE EFFORTS OF THESE VOLUNTEERS AND THE BLESSINGS OF GOD THAT ALLOW FOR THE ACCOMPLISHMENTS DESCRIBED IN THIS FINANCIAL REPORT. IN 2021, EDOH RAPID RESPONSE TEAMS DEPLOYED TO NINE COMMUNITIES: BEATTYVILLE, KY, LAKE CHARLES, LA AND WAVERLEY, TN AFTER FLOODS, CALHOUN COUNTY, AL, TUPELO, MS, AND MAYFIELD, KY, AFTER TORNADOS, AND TO THE LOUISIANA COMMUNITIES OF MANDEVILLE, LAPLACE, AND KENNER AFTER HURRICANE IDA. EDOH RAPID RESPONSE TEAMS RETURNED TO CEDAR RAPIDS, IA, TO ASSIST IN THE CLEAN-UP FROM THE DERECHO THAT HIT THAT CITY IN AUGUST 2020. FOUR SAFE HOUSE PROJECTS WERE HELD IN 2021 IN THE STATES OF MISSISSIPPI, TEXAS, SOUTH DAKOTA, AND PENNSYLVANIA. AN EIGHT-DAY COMMUNITY PROJECT WAS HELD IN BUFFALO, NY. IN TOTAL ALMOST 4,000 VOLUNTEERS SERVED WITH EDOH IN 2021. THE VALUE OF THE DONATED SERVICES BY THESE VOLUNTEERS IS ESTIMATED TO BE OVER 4,600,000. OF THIS AMOUNT 2,081,044 IS RECORDED IN THE STATEMENT OF REVENUE AS NONCASH CONTRIBUTIONS AND IN THE STATEMENT OF FUNCTIONAL EXPENSES AS IN-KIND LABOR IN ACCORDANCE WITH GENERALLY ACCEPTED ACCOUNTING PRINCIPALS, GAAP. EDOH RECEIVED 384,794 IN DONATED GOODS. THIS IS ALSO RECORDED IN THE STATEMENT OF REVENUE AND STATEMENT OF FUNCTIONAL EXPENSES AS NONCASH CONTRIBUTIONS AND IN-KIND MATERIALS, RESPECTIVELY. FROM JANUARY 27 THROUGH MAY 29, 2021, EDOH RECEIVED EIGHTY-ONE TRUCKLOADS OF FOOD FROM THE FARMERS TO FAMILIES PROGRAM AND DISTRIBUTED 106,040 BOXES OF FOOD TO OVER 150 CHURCHES OR MINISTRIES IN THE STATES OF OHIO, IOWA, AND NEW YORK. THE VALUE OF THIS FOOD IS ESTIMATED TO BE 6,075,000. THIS IS NOT RECORDED IN THE FINANCIALS AS IT DOES NOT MEET THE REQUIREMENTS FOR DONATED MATERIALS.
EIGHT DAYS OF HOPE ALSO HAS A RAPID RESPONSE ARM OF ITS MINISTRY. THE PRIMARY GOAL OF OUR RAPID RESPONSE TEAM IS TO SHOW THE LOVE OF JESUS CHRIST TO DISASTER VICTIMS 48-72 HOURS AFTER A DISASTER STRIKES ANYWHERE IN THE CONTIGUOUS 48 STATES. THE MEANS TO MEETING THIS GOAL WILL BE THROUGH CLEARING DEBRIS, TARPING ROOFS, GUTTING WATER-DAMAGED HOMES AND SALVAGING PERSONAL PROPERTY. THESE ARE THE MOST BASIC IMMEDIATE ACTIONS NECESSARY TO PRESERVE PROPERTY AND LIVELIHOOD. IN SO DOING, THE VOLUNTEERS SEEK TO BUILD BONDS WITH HOMEOWNERS, COMMUNITY LEADERS AND OTHER DISASTER RELIEF ORGANIZATIONS FOR IMMEDIATE RELIEF AND IN HOPE OF LAYING A FOUNDATION FOR FUTURE DISASTER-RECOVERY EFFORTS.
