THE YOUTH ACTIVISM PROJECT TEACHES TEENS MOVEMENT-BUILDING SKILLS TO MAKE POLICY IMPACT AT ALL LEVELS OF GOVERNMENT. WE ENVISION A WORLD IN WHICH YOUTH ACTIVISM IS THE NORM, NOT THE EXCEPTION. WE KNOW THAT EVEN THOUGH MANY YOUNG PEOPLE ARE NOT OLD ENOUGH TO VOTE, THEY STILL WIELD REAL INFLUENCE WITH ELECTED OFFICIALS AND OTHER DECISION-MAKERS. OUR ORGANIZATION PROMOTES YOUTH-ORGANIZED CAMPAIGNS IN THE US AND ABROAD THAT DIAGNOSE PROBLEMS AND PROPOSE SOLUTIONS TO THEIR LOCAL DECISION MAKERS AND OFFICIALS (LIKE SCHOOL BOARD MEMBERS), COMMUNITY ELDERS, AND ELECTED OFFICIALS.

YAP'S CORE PROGRAM IS THE ACTIVATION HUB, AN ONLINE NETWORK CREATED & LED BY TEENS TO HELP THEIR PEERS BUILD THE SKILLS, RELATIONSHIPS, & RESOURCES TO LEAD POLICY ADVOCACY & ORGANIZING CAMPAIGNS TO DRIVE SYSTEMIC CHANGE LEADING TO RACIAL & SOCIAL JUSTICE.
YAP'S SECOND CORE PROGRAM IS SUPPORT FOR YOUTH ORGANIZERS TO DEVELOP AND IMPLEMENT LOCAL ADVOCACY CAMPAIGNS AROUND ISSUES OF CONCERN TO YOUTH IN THEIR COMMUNITY. IN 2022, YAP WAS ABLE TO REACH OVER 600 YOUTH ACROSS THE UNITED STATES WITH OUR CIVIC LEADERSHIP PROGRAMMING.
CONSULTING AND TRAINING - YAP PROVIDES FEE-FOR-SERVICE TRAINING WORKSHOPS AND TECHNICAL ASSISTANCE TO OTHER NONPROFITS ON YOUTH LEADERSHIP AND EMPOWERMENT PRACTICES.
