CENTER CITY PROVIDES GRANTS TO REFURBISH BUILDING FACADES, ORGANIZES COMMUNITY SOCIAL EVENTS IN THE DOWNTOWN AREA, AND ENCOURAGES DOWNTOWN DEVELOPMENT. CURRENT DOWNTOWN EVENTS INCLUDE: HOODOO ART FESTIVAL; THE ELECTRIC LIGHT PARADE IN EARLY DECEMBER THAT CONCLUDES WITH THE LIGHTING OF THE CITY'S CHRISTMAS TREE; HIGH NOON ON THE SQUARE DURING JUNE AND JULY WHICH IS A FREE CONCERT WITH LUNCH ON THE LAWN OF THE HISTORIC POTTER COUNTY COURTHOUSE; JAZZTOBER WHICH IS A FREE JAZZ CONCERT IN OCTOBER ON THE LAWN OF THE HISTORIC BIVINS HOME; AMARILLO COMMUNITY MARKET WHICH BRINGS THE COMMUNITY DOWNTOWN EACH SATURDAY BETWEEN JUNE-SEPTEMBER TO EAT AND SHOP LOCAL FROM VARIOUS VENDORS.
