THE TEXAS BUSINESS LAW FOUNDATION (THE "FOUNDATION") ENGAGES IN ACTIVITIES THAT ENCOURAGE THE IMPROVEMENT OF BUSINESS LAWS THAT WILL ENHANCE THE ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT OF THE STATE OF TEXAS AND PROMOTE THE COMMON INTEREST OF THE FOUNDATION'S MEMBERS IN ASSURING THAT THE STATE OF TEXAS MAINTAINS A SYSTEM OF BUSINESS LAWS AND REGULATIONS THAT SUPPORTS THE STATE'S BUSINESS CLIMATE AND THE PUBLIC INTEREST. SPECIFICALLY, THE FOUNDATION MONITORS LEGISLATION AND RULE PROPOSALS DEVELOPED BY THE BUSINESS LAW SECTION OF THE STATE BAR OF TEXAS AND OTHERS AND, TO THE EXTENT THAT THE STATE BAR BOARD OF DIRECTORS WILL NOT APPROVE LEGISLATIVE PROPOSALS DEVELOPED BY THE BUSINESS LAW SECTION'S COMMITTEES, THE FOUNDATION WILL SEEK LEGISLATIVE SUPPORT FOR SUCH PROPOSAL AND PROVIDE FUNDING FOR SUCH SUPPORT. THE FOUNDATION ALSO MAY OPPOSE LEGISLATIVE AND RULE PROPOSALS OF OTHERS WHEN SUCH PROPOSALS ARE FOUND BY THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS OF THE FOUNDATION TO NOT BE IN THE BEST INTEREST OF THE BUSINESS COMMUNITY IN THE STATE. THE FOUNDATION MAY ALSO SUPPORT THE FILING OF AMICUS CURIA BRIEFS IN THE COURTS OF THE STATE OF TEXAS WITH RESPECT TO BUSINESS LAW MATTERS PENDING BEFORE SUCH COURTS AND MAY DISSEMINATE INFORMATION ON ISSUES SUPPORTED OR OPPOSED BY IT TO ITS MEMBERS AND OTHER THROUGH PERIODIC PUBLICATIONS AND MEETINGS.THE TEXAS BUSINESS LAW FOUNDATION IS STAFFED WITH VOLUNTEER MEMBERS, DIRECTORS AND OFFICERS. THE WORK OF THE ORGANIZATION IS PRIMARILY HANDLED BY THE OFFICERS.
