INFORMATION AND REFERRAL: EMPLOYEES HANDLED 6,234 REQUESTS FOR INFORMATION AND REFERRAL FROM PEOPLE WHO CALLED, WROTE OR VISITED THE REACH OFFICES IN FORT WORTH, DALLAS, DENTON, AND PLANO, TX DURING THE YEAR. THE OBJECTIVE FOR OFFERING THIS SERVICE WAS TO PROVIDE NEEDED INFORMATION ABOUT COMMUNITY RESOURCES SUCH AS AFFORDABLE AND ACCESSIBLE HOUSING OPTIONS, PERSONAL ASSISTANCE SERVICES, PUBLIC TRANSPORTATION, COUNSELING RESOURCES, ASSISTIVE TECHNOLOGY DEVICES, EMERGENCY FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE, MEDICAL SERVICES, EMPLOYMENT ASSISTANCE, FOOD, CLOTHING, ETC. IN THE COMMUNITY WHERE THEY LIVE.
INDEPENDENT LIVING SKILLS: PEOPLE WITH DISABILITIES PARTICIPATED IN 588 INDEPENDENT LIVING SKILLS TRAINING SESSIONS THAT WERE OFFERED DURING THE YEAR AT THE REACH OF FORT WORTH, DALLAS, DENTON, AND PLANO OFFICES. THE TRAINING SESSIONS COVERED TOPICS SUCH AS BASIC COMPUTER SKILLS, BUDGETING AND MONEY MANAGEMENT, IMPROVING INTERPERSONAL RELATIONSHIPS, TIME MANAGEMENT, ASSERTIVENESS SKILLS, RELAXATION TECHNIQUES, MICROWAVE COOKING SKILLS, NUTRITIOUS MEAL PLANNING, COMMUNICATION SKILLS, ADAPTIVE EQUIPMENT USE, ORGANIZATIONAL SKILLS, HOUSEHOLD CLEANING TECHNIQUES, PERSONAL AND HOME SAFETY, ETC.
