LUMIN EDUCATION WAS FOUNDED IN 1978 AND SERVES MORE THAN 600 CHILDREN AND THEIR PARENTS IN THESE PROGRAMS: 1) PREGNANCY TO AGE 3 (P-3) HOME VISITING PARENT EDUCATION PROGRAM, 2) DAILY MONTESSORI CLASSES FOR CHILDREN AGES 1 TO 5 (B4SIX CLASSROOM PROGRAM), AND 3) DAILY MONTESSORI CLASSES FOR CHILDREN AGES 6 TO 9 (ELEMENTARY CLASSROOM PROGRAM). IN SPITE OF GROWING UP IN NEIGHBORHOODS THAT STRUGGLE WITH POVERTY, ILLITERACY, AND HIGH DROPOUT RATES, 96% OF LUMIN'S THIRD GRADE ALUMNI HAVE SUCCESSFULLY COMPLETED HIGH SCHOOL OR EARNED A G.E.D.
