TO PROVIDE THOSE WHO ARE DEAF AND HARD OF HEARING THE MEANS TO ENSURE ADVANCEMENT THROUGH EDUCATION, ECONOMIC SECURITY AND GOOD HEALTH.

COMMUNICATION: DAC'S INTERPRETING DEPARTMENT HAS A STAFF OF CERTIFIED SIGN LANGUAGE INTERPRETERS AVAILABLE TO PROVIDE CRITICAL COMMUNICATION ACCESSIBILITY 24 HOURS A DAY. COMMUNICATION SERVICES ARE PROVIDED TO ENTITIES WHO NEED TO COMMUNICATE WITH THEIR CONSUMERS WHO ARE DEAF OR HARD OF HEARING. COMMUNICATION SERVICES ALSO INCLUDE VIDEO REMOTE INTERPRETING (VRI) AND COMMUNICATION ACCESS REAL-TIME TRANSLATORS (CART). THE INTERPRETING DEPARTMENT IS DEDICATED TO DELIVERING EQUAL COMMUNICATION ACCESS FOR THE DEAF AND HARD OF HEARING COMMUNITY.


TECHNOLOGY: THIS PROGRAM PROVIDES FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE WITH ACQUIRING SPECIALIZED ASSISTIVE PHONE TECHNOLOGY. IT IS AVAILABLE TO TEXAS RESIDENTS WHO EXPERIENCE CERTIFIABLE DIFFICULTIES OR BARRIERS ACCESSING THE TELEPHONE INFRASTRUCTURE. DAC'S OUTREACH SPECIALISTS IN FORT WORTH AND DALLAS ASSIST INDIVIDUALS WITH THE APPLICATION PROCESS BOTH IN AND OUT OF THE OFFICE.


SENIOR CITIZENS CENTER: DAC'S SENIOR CITIZEN CENTER PROVIDES DAILY ACTIVITIES TO DEAF AND HARD OF HEARING OLDER ADULTS. THESE ACTIVITIES INCLUDE WELLNESS CHECKS, SOCIAL ACTIVITIES, EDUCATIONAL CLASSES AND HOT NUTRITIOUS MEALS. DAC PROVIDES FREE TRANSPORTATION SERVICES FOR SENIORS PARTICIPATING IN DAC'S SENIOR CITIZEN PROGRAM.
