COMMUNICATION: DAC'S INTERPRETING DEPARTMENT HAS A STAFF OF CERTIFIED SIGN LANGUAGE INTERPRETERS AVAILABLE TO PROVIDE CRITICAL COMMUNICATION ACCESSIBILITY 24 HOURS A DAY. COMMUNICATION SERVICES ARE PROVIDED TO ENTITIES WHO NEED TO COMMUNICATE WITH THEIR CONSUMERS WHO ARE DEAF OR HARD OF HEARING. COMMUNICATION SERVICES ALSO INCLUDE VIDEO REMOTE INTERPRETING (VRI) AND COMMUNICATION ACCESS REAL-TIME TRANSLATORS (CART). THE INTERPRETING DEPARTMENT IS DEDICATED TO DELIVERING EQUAL COMMUNICATION ACCESS FOR THE DEAF AND HARD OF HEARING COMMUNITY.
TECHNOLOGY: THIS PROGRAM PROVIDES FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE WITH ACQUIRING SPECIALIZED ASSISTIVE PHONE TECHNOLOGY. IT IS AVAILABLE TO TEXAS RESIDENTS WHO EXPERIENCE CERTIFIABLE DIFFICULTIES OR BARRIERS ACCESSING THE TELEPHONE INFRASTRUCTURE. DAC'S OUTREACH SPECIALISTS IN FORT WORTH AND DALLAS ASSIST INDIVIDUALS WITH THE APPLICATION PROCESS BOTH IN AND OUT OF THE OFFICE.
ACCESS: DEAF AND HARD OF HEARING INDIVIDUALS FACE BARRIERS DAILY DUE TO LACK OF SERVICES AND EFFECTIVE COMMUNICATION THAT REQUIRE EDUCATION AND SUPPORT. DAC'S ACCESS SPECIALISTS PROVIDE ADVOCACY, SELF-EMPOWERMENT, AND SENSITIVITY TRAINING AS WELL AS EDUCATION ON FEDERAL AND STATE MANDATES ON EQUAL ACCESS TO SERVICES INCLUDING EDUCATIONAL AND EMPLOYMENT SETTINGS.
