CHILDREN ARE TAUGHT THE FAR REACHING BENEFITS OF CARING FOR THE ENVIRONMENT. ESPECIALLY HOW DOING THE WORK IN THEIR OWN BACKYARDS AND NEIGHBORHOODS HAS A POSITIVE IMPACT. ADULT PROGRAMS: WORKSHOPS, LECTURES, INTERPRETATION AND PROGRAMS FOCUS THE USE OF NATIVE AND ADAPTED PLANTING TO CREATE LOW WATER, DROUGHT-TOLERANT, ECONOMICAL AND BEAUTIFUL YARDS. ENVIRONMENTAL PLANTINGS AND LANDSCAPE SUPPORT THE LIFE CYCLE OF INSECTS AND ANIMALS. APPROXIMATELY, 2,000 PARTICIPATE ANNUALLY. HORTICULTURE PROGRAMS: THE ORGANIC GARDENS ARE DESIGNED TO MODEL BENEFICIAL RESIDENTIAL HABITATS AS WELL AS SUPPORT ALL EDUCATIONAL PROGRAMS AND ARE VISITED BY APPROXIMATELY 90,000 PEOPLE.
