TO PROVIDE EDUCATIONAL OPPORTUNITIES FOR TAX ASSESSOR-COLLECTORS AND THEIR STAFF BY ORGANIZING AN ANNUAL CONFERENCE AND CREATING OTHER EDUCATIONAL OPPORTUNITIES SUCH AS REGIONAL MEETINGS AND CLASSES THROUGHOUT THE STATE THAT ARE APPROVED BY INSTITUTIONS OF HIGHER LEARNING

WE PROVIDE PROGRAMS FOR TRAINING ELECTED COUNTY TAX ASSESSOR-COLLECTORS OF TEXAS AND THEIR STAFF ON SUBJECTS PERTINENT TO THE OPERATIONS OF THEIR OFFICE AND THE DISCHARGE OF THE OFFICIAL DUTIES. THIS YEAR WE HELD A LIMITED VIRTUAL CONFERENCE. OUR ANNUAL CONFERENCE WAS CANCELED DUE TO COVID RESTRICTIONS.
EDUCATIONAL COURSES AND CLASSES HELD THROUGHOUT THE STATE ARE INTENDED TO INCREASE THE KNOWLEDGE OF TEXAS PROPERTY TAX AND MOTOR VEHICLE TRANSPORTATION AND SALES TAX LAWS, CODES, AND RULES. ALSO, PROGRAMS PROMOTE AWARENESS OF IMPORTANT LEGISLATIVE CHANGES AND UPDATES THAT AFFECT THE DAILY OPERATION OF COUNTY TAX ASSESSOR-COLLECTOR OFFICES ACROSS THE STATE. MOST OF THE COURSES PROVIDED ARE ALSO REQUIRED TO EARN CERTIFICATIONS IN THE PROFESSION.
LEGISLATIVE ADVOCACY WITH THE TEXAS LEGISLATURE ACTING AS A RESOURCE EDUCATING AND INFORMING LEGISLATORS AND STAFF REGARDING PROPOSED CHANGES TO CURRENT LAWS AND RULES THAT AFFECT OUR OFFICE. THE INTENT OF THE PROGRAM IS TO BE THE ENTITY OF CHOICE FOR THE LEGISLATURE REGARDING PROPERTY TAXATION AND MOTOR VEHICLE TITLING AND REGISTRATIONS, INFORMING LEGISLATORS AND THEIR STAFF OF THE EFFECTS OF POTENTIAL LEGISLATIVE CHANGES.
