TEN THOUSAND VILLAGES OVERLAND PARK, INC HAS ONLY ONE PROGRAM TOWARD FULFILLING ITS MISSION WHICH IS CREATING JOBS FOR ARTISANS IN DEVELOPING COUNTRIES BY SELLING THEIR GOODS AND TELLING THEIR STORIES OF FAIR TRADE (AS OPPOSED TO FREE TRADE) TO OUR CUSTOMERS. WE CREATE OPPORTUNITIES FOR ARTISANS IN DEVELOPING COUNTRIES TO EARN INCOME BY BRINGING THEIR PRODUCTS AND STORIES TO OUR MARKETS THROUGH LONG-TERM FAIR TRADING RELATIONSHIPS. WE EDUCATE VOLUNTEERS, CUSTOMERS, AND THE KANSAS CITY METROPOLITAN COMMUNITY ABOUT FAIR TRADE ARTISANS AND FARMERS, THEIR CULTURES, AND THE OPPORTUNITIES AND CHALLENGES THEY FACE. OUR STORE WAS ABLE TO OPEN A SECOND SEMI-PERMANENT STORE LOCATION THIS PAST YEAR, WITH OUR COMMITTED VOLUNTEERS DONATING OVER 3300 HOURS OF SERVICE DURING FY2021.
