THE PURPOSE OF THE UVALDE COUNTY JUNIOR LIVESTOCK SHOW IS CHARITABLE, EDUCATIONAL, AND SCIENTIFIC. THE ASSOCIATION SHALL INSTRUCT THE PUBLIC ON AGRICULTURAL MATTERS BY CONDUCTING ANNUAL PUBLIC AFFAIRS AND EXHIBITIONS OF LIVESTOCK IN CONNECTION WITH THE ANNUAL LIVESTOCK SHOW.

THE COUNTY OF UVALDE PROVIDES USE OF THE COUNTY'S FAIRPLEX FACILITIES FOR THREE DAYS IN JANUARY OF EVERY YEAR. THE VALUE OF THE DONATED USED IS $3,000 WHICH IS CALCULATD AT THE DAILY RENTAL OF $1,000 PER DAY.THE UVALDE COUNTY JUNIOR LIVESTOCK SHOW ASSOCIATION (UCJLSA) PLANS AND COORDINATES THE 4-H AND FFA JUNIOR LIVESTOCK SHOW FOR UVALDE COUNTY. THE UCJLSA SETS DATES IN AGREEMENT WITH STATE OF TEXAS SHOW REGULATIONS AND SETS DATES AND TIMES FOR THE COUNTY SHOW. UCJLSA COORDINATES AND ASSISTS THE APPROPRIATE ANNUAL PARTICIPANTS IN PREPARATION OF THE ACTUAL SHOWING AND JUDGING OF ENTRIES. UCJLSA PROCURES FACILITIES, OBTAINS ANY APPROPRIATE PERMITS AND INSURANCE FOR THE SHOW. UCJLSA ESTABLISHES THE RULES AND GUIDELINES FOR ALL EXHIBITORS AND THEIR EXHIBITS FOR THE SHOW. UCJLSA ESTABLISHES COMMITTEES INTO THE DIFFERENT ANIMAL AND PROJECT SHOW DIVISIONS (FROM ITS MEMBERS) TO SPECIFICALLY COORDINATE EACH DIVISION. COMMITTEES SET SPECIFIC GUIDELINES, SHOW TIMES, JUDGES, ETC. UCJLSA PLANS, COORDINATES, AND ASSISTS IN THE SUBSEQUENT PREMIUM SALE OF THE 4-H/FFA EXHIBITORS ANIMALS. THE SALE CONSISTS OF OBTAINING ADVERTISING, OBTAINING A VOLUNTEER AUCTIONEER, SETTING UP APPROPRIATE FACILITIES AND ASSISTING THE CHILDREN EXHIBITORS THROUGH THE SALE PROCESS. UCJLSA ALSO KEEPS ALL FINANCING RECORDS, COLLECTS AND DISBURSES SALE PROCEEDS FOR THE BENEFIT OF THE CHILDREN.SPONSORS, CLINICS, WORKSHOPS, WEIGH-DAYS, AND OTHER EDUCATIONAL ACTIVITIES THROUGH OUT THE YEAR FOR 4-H AND FFA PARTICIPANTS. UCJLSA COORDINATES WITH VARIOUS INSTRUCTION IN VARIOUS AGRICULTURAL FIELDS OF EXPERTISE TO COME AND PRESENT EDUCATIONAL CLINICS AND WORKDAYS TO TEACH CHILDREN PROPER CARE, FEED, ETC. OF THEIR ANIMAL EXHIBITS. WEIGH-DAYS ALSO ARE COORDINATED TO ASSIST CHILDREN IN WATCHING AND STRIVING TO OBTAIN OPTIMUM POTENTIAL FROM THEIR ANIMALS. THESE EDUCATIONAL PROGRAMS ARE ESTABLISHED BY UCJLSA THROUGH OUT THE YEAR TO PROVIDE AN ENHANCED LEARNING EXPERIENCE FOR THE 4-H/FFA EXHIBITOR.
